“The food is incredible, the atmosphere is fantastic.”
“We had the empanadas as an app, which were great; the Aji De Gallina, which was chicken and potato covered with a creamy, slightly spicey sauce and was also very yummy; and the ice cream combo for dessert, which I highly recommend for its original flavor.”
“It has great Peruvian steak and seafood, great drinks, and is a great value too.”
“highly recommend this place for anyone craving for great food, at a good price too!”
“These days it seems so rare to find such a great restaurant with such wonderful service in Williamsburg.”
“Great service-great food!”
“My friend ordered the whole red snapper and it was a huge plate.”

Ceviche underwhelms, but both skirt steak and whole chicken come tender and flavorful; candles abound, upping the romance factor
the best place ever!. We go all the time, as a couple and with friends and family. The food is always great and authentic. The prices are very reasonable. The atmosphere and the service is top notch. Highly recommend!
CHIMU RESTAURANT IS DEELISH!. Words cannot describe the gems on the menu at this incredible restaurant in Williamsburg Brooklyn. The food is incredible delicious( try the ceviche). The staff are awesome and the owner is available to meet and is extremely nice to his patrons!
Food items could be hit or miss. For starters, we had Papa a la Huancaina (never again), Papa Rellena de Carne (quite good), Fried Calamari (very good) and Ceviche de Camarones (very good, I don't like shrimp, much less raw shrimp, so that's saying something). My entree was the Tacu Tacu de carne. I had the steak medium and it was cooked as I wanted but the meat was somehow very tough and rubbery. The sangria I had wasn't very good either. My friend ordered the whole red snapper and it was a huge plate. The other friend ordered the Tallarin Saltado de Carne o Pollo and was let down. Maybe it was the soy sauce but it was way too salty and tasted like Chinese low mein.
YUMMY!.
i order in chimu VERY often. not only are the people running this place super nice, the food is also delicious and very reasonably priced.
i normally get the llomo saltado with pollo and it rocks my world.
highly recommended!
NOT authentic Peruvian food.
I tried Chimu a few times and as a Peruvian I can only recommend the Lomo saltado there. Don't order the "pollo a la brasa" at opening time because they will give a leftover piece from the day before. The cooks, servers and waiters are not Peruvian and not knowledgeable at all about Peruvian cuisine. I was there last Thursday and I ordered pollo a la brasa con papas fritas, tamal, papa rellena y chupe de camarones. The chicken was obviously a leftover piece from the day before, it didn't have any flavor, I couldn't eat the fries, they serve the chicken and fries in different plates (with the only purpose to charge you separately for it) This was the worst "pollo a la brasa" I have ever tried I could only take a bite. The tamal was a quarter of a regular size tamal and it had a very small piece of chicken instead of a decent piece of pork as it should be.
The "chupe de camarones" had tasteless shrimp and the papa rellena was too oily.
I mention to the waiter they shouldn't serve chicken that was not roasted the same day and he didn't say anything, didn't apologize or offer any explanation and charge me for it anyway even after the plate was sent back after only tasting it.
I left this restaurant feeling disappointed and upset. I'm not spending my money there again.
Delish!!!!. Love love love this place!!! I've been going to Chimu for the past year and the food is amazing. The service and the food have been consistently great. Try the Lomo Saltado with beef or chicken, sauteed with tomato and onion over fries! You won't regret it! Cheap, nice portions, great staff and worth the trip!
Who knew?. It's delicious. I have tried many of the items there, and the food is consistently amazing. The service is excellent. The food does not come out the second you order it, but when it does, you forget how long you waited. I have never had a bad experience here. I am no expert on Peruvian food, but I love to eat and I adore Chimu.
Chimu. I am born and breed in Wiilyb I've seen them all , Chimu has the best service the Red Snapper and skirt steak are incredible. The owner is very sweet. thank U of a wonderful dinning experience!
Great, low-key alternative to "Williamsburg" scene. Having moved to the neighborhood, I was thrilled find this cheap, down-to-earth Peruvian steakhouse. The steak piled on pesto spaghetti won't win any points for presentation, but at its low cost and generous portion, it's definitely a great go-to meal when your looking for some comfort food, South American style. The baked snapper is also a winner, though I've yet to try the chicken as the rotiserrie always seems to be broken.
Peruvian chicken, beef and seafood are the meat and potatoes of this unassuming Williamsburg steakhouse..
In Short
Despite a few stabs at romantic lighting, this dark, linoleum-floored eatery facing the BQE is fairly bare-bones. The menu, however, provides a cornucopia of Peruvian specialties, from a quarter rotisserie chicken for less than $5, to more expensive grilled shell steaks, fish platters and seviche, plated with sides such as papas fritas, sweet plantains and shrimp-stuffed avocado. Rice pudding, coconut sorbet and a Peruvian purple corn-based pudding offer more Latin flavor for dessert.
