“The waitresses are very pleasant and I am quite comfortable each time I go.”
“But to just say that the sushi was bad that night would still be giving away too much credit.”
“Hana has a very imaginative menu however it pays to ask for their daily recommendations as we have sampled such tasty dishes as: live scallops, melt in your mouth tuna dumplings and the brand new black peppered tuna on angel rolls!”
“great South Brooklyn neighborhood sushi restaurant, most come for the all-you-can-eat special for $21.”
“The waitresses are very pleasant and I am quite comfortable each time I go.”
“It's as if once they established themselves as a great, not-too-expensive sushi spot- once they had their customer base built up- they said "f__k it, we can feed 'em anything we like and they won't notice- and they'll continue to love us!”
“Service was slow and decor is average.”
One of my favorites. I really enjoy eating at this restaurant. They have great service and the food is pretty good. I always order the Chicken Tempura which is absolutely delicious. It is crispy on the outside and the chicken melts in your mouth, that is my favorite dish. The chicken teriyaki is good but it's not extraordinary. However, I must have desert everytime no matter what because the Fried Banana with Ice cream is heavenly. I should also mention that I have never had their sushi since I am allergic to seafood. I would recommend this restaurant for sure. The waitresses are very pleasant and I am quite comfortable each time I go. So give it a try.
Great value and combo meals!. I grew up in Japan and I love ordering and eating in at Hana. The food is great, the staff is friendly, and you always get an amazing amount of food for the amount you've paid. I'm a big fan of their combo meals and lunch specials. I recommend getting a tempura combo which comes with sushi, miso, salad and even gyoza on the side for a whopping $13. Its really quite amazing.
Downhill all the way.
This used to be my wife and I's favorite restaurant- not any more. The quality of the sushi is nauseating. It's as if once they established themselves as a great, not-too-expensive sushi spot- once they had their customer base built up- they said "f__k it, we can feed 'em anything we like and they won't notice- and they'll continue to love us!"
The fish quality went downhill so fast it's as if the place fell off a culinary cliff. I mean it- one day they were fine (as usual), the next the food was disgusting.
We chalked it up to one bad night- UNTIL IT HAPPENED AGAIN! AND AGAIN! It was unreal- and severly dissappointing. We will never eat there, and would suggest that you, dear reader, do likewise.
Fabulous, fresh sushi, delicate food. This was my first time to diner in this restaurant. I always had delivery and taken away. I love this place. Their foods are delicious, and fast delivery, there are always busy. When I sawed that review the gentleman named, I couldn't believe. So I went there to eat there, the tuna was good, the toro was best. Toro is very limited, and expensive. But it worth. The tuna tataki also is wonderful. I think that person didn't known about sushi. And it 's evil intention. Anyway, just go and seat down to eat, then you know. God bless everybody.
The Worst sushi on Smith St. I am really wondering about all the raving reviewers of this restaurant and if they actually really ate here!? I have been to Hana Cafe only once, in June 07, because I love sushi. I eat it every week and live nearby. But to just say that the sushi was bad that night would still be giving away too much credit. The tuna actually smelled fishy! I never had a smelly tuna before, anywhere. Another piece of salmon was so glibbery, I could hardly grab it. In all honesty, I did not even try all the other pieces I had on my plate after this, even though I nibbled on a few more. At this point I don't care if "the price is right" or the "service is good" - the FOOD IS BAD! Period. And btw, I had posted this before and my review was removed by request. I hope this won't happen again since I would hate to think that this forum is censured.
best sushi I had. This is my first time that I go to this restaurant. My friend told me many times about it. I come from Japan. So I know what is good sushi. I went there with my husband this Tuesday. I think I found out good restaurant with very reasonable price. The sushi & sashimi is very fresh specially is yellowtail, uni is good too. The chef made us special appetizer,it was so delicious. The service is considerable too. I enjoy the music they played light and soft. I had wonderful nignt.
Gone Downhill. I went on a recent Saturday night... fish was cold, watery, and unflavorful. Very bad signs for sushi. Service was slow and decor is average. If you want sushi in the area, go to Osaka on Court Street.
Best Sushi Experience in Brooklyn!. Hana Sushi is not only the best sushi but one of the best all around food experiences that you can have on Smith St! It is truly a neighborhood joint, with super friendly service from all the waitstaff. Hana has a very imaginative menu however it pays to ask for their daily recommendations as we have sampled such tasty dishes as: live scallops, melt in your mouth tuna dumplings and the brand new black peppered tuna on angel rolls! Yummy! My wife and I always bring the out of towners to Hana and always always finish with a red bean and mango muji ice cream.
Best sushi in BK for the price. I have been going to Hana for several years now and I am happy to see the growth. The sushi is excellent, fresh, and yummy. I tend to purchase the unlimited all you can eat and it really is unlimited. Service (level of friendliness) can be inconsistent, but the food more than makes up for it. My husband and I tend to come here for our anniversary and we really enjoy ourselves. Do try the Bonzai (plum wine and sake mixed)! Family friendly, great date place.
Pretty Good Food, Great Value. While the food and service can vary between pretty good and great, Hana is always a good deal if you're really hungry and want reasonably priced Japanese food in the 'hood. My only suggestion is not to order the chicken yakatori, as they tend to use lower quality meat for that dish. Lunch is a great deal.
