“Nice restaurant, Good service, Ambience is okay!”
!!!I JUST CAN'T BELIEVE IT COULD BE SO BAD!!!.
I wish I could put no star as a rating. I'm visiting NY from out-of-town and came for my friend's 30th B-day. She planned to have dinner at Dakar for 40 people. What happened when we got there...only the DEVIL knows...literally....cuz the service was horrible.
There were about 10 people who arrived ahead of the birthday girl. When we sat down, the waitress didn't even bring out bread or water. We had to ask for it. That took about 20 mins to come. YES!!! 20 mins. to get water. When the bread came, it was stale. I'm sure the corner store has better bread.
Then, no plates were brought out to place the bread on.
The menu was pre fixe. Well appetizers came out after about an hour (I know you think I'm exaggerating...but I'm not!!! I'm here from out -of-town and am taking the time to write a review. So, you should be clear how truly horrible the service was)
Then the main course orders were taken, and again, took about 45 mins to come. Long story short, It took 3 hours to get from appetizer to dessert. People didn't get their drinks - both that I ordered were wrong, but I drank them anyway, not risking another half hour delay, for the other one to arrive.
Entrees were wrong when they finally came - on top of being cold and sloppy on presentation.
The night (minus the love of the firends :) was horrible!!!
No apologies were given to my friend, the clueless waitresses tried to justify their blunders and the manager had no remedy to improve service when my friend complained. She was totally embarrased and didn't even enjoy herself - having to manage the situation all night.
I'VE NEVER WRITTEN A REVIEW AND NEVER THOUGHT ANY SERVICE COULD GET SO BAD I'D BE INSPIRED TO POST A NEGATIVE ONE ON-LINE, BUT WOW....
!!! I JUST CAN'T BELIEVE IT COULD BE SO BAD !!!
Editorial Review. African restaurant in Clinton Hill with lunch, dinner, brunch and cocktails.
Pathetic. Waited for over an hour for food to arrive - we were one of four tables. All three courses (soup, appetizer and entree) were then brought at the same time. Food was comical in that is smelled and tasted like dog food and had obviously just come out of the microwave. Service was obnoxious and practically non-existant.
The service was terrible. Bad service! We waited an hour for our appetizers, (I suspect the waitress forgot to put in our order because the restaurant was not busy) and then the entrees came at the same time! The food was microwaved! Terrible.
Dakar Restaurant in Fort Greene/ Clinton Hill. step inside this well hidden alcove on grand ave. in Brooklyn, NY where the music soothes and the aromas tittilate all five senses. The food is ethnically rich and flavorfull, but moderately priced and well portioned. The staff is amiable and relaxed. The Teusday night Jazz is seductively addictive, and catchy. Come once and you'll come again. Perfect for the family or the local Pratt student.
Senegal in Brooklyn!. I happened upon this place when my other favorite was closed and was not disappointed. The owner makes you feel like family and the food is out of this world. Their pastels are excellent and make you want more. The drinks are ok, not the best bartender, but the food and the ambience are great. If you are a soccer fan, watch your games there, you won't regret it! The lamb yassa is some of the best I've had on this continent.
Great find in Clinton Hill. My wife and I had a fantastic dinner there recently. Incredibly fresh red snapper stands out -- but the whole menu is interesting and appealing. Great service in a truly unique atmosphere. The kind of place where you know you'll be a regular.
Great neighborhood hangout. Has a great neighborhood vibe. Very Clinton Hill. It's casual, fun and hasa menu with exotic dishes and dishes for those who don't want to branch out. Cozy, open space. Great for a group. Sit in the back near the windows on the corner of Grand and Clifton.
