Good food, didn't disappoint. Went here for my 1st anniversary. Food was pretty good, service was alright. It was pretty romantic, tables were kind of close together though. I had fish & the chocolate souffle which was awesome. It was good for the price. Hard to find though, the address wasn't in order when we went down the street, it's actually a block up from the street numbers... and kind of hidden. BUT worth it.

Great cuisine and service-. I really like going to Chance and it always makes a great impression on my friends or co-workers. I love to order the crusted salmon which is a treat, and the Chicken Satay. The drinks are mixed well and the service is terrific. I enjoy dining with friends but must say it's hard to resist a warm smile and hello I always get when sitting at the bar. I find the food and staff much to my personal liking and would recommend using this place for any social occassion.

Great Bartender and food. Ignore the bad reviews...they must have been from days of different staff. I have been going to Chance for over 5 months and it is one of the best restaurants on Smith St. The Chilean Sea Bass with spicy miso sauce is fresh, delicious and the best on the menu. Their dim-sum selection is large and of course, tasty. Veggie fried rice is full of fresh veggies, not the "squared veggie nuggets" found in other places and it is CHEAP, filling and the best I have eaten anywhere. Every dish is cooked to order and worth the quick wait. The staff is friendly and helpful, and will take care of you. Dining alone? Pull up to the bar to get a drink and dinner from the best bartender on Smith. Frank knows how to pour a "mean" martini, "mash" a fresh mojito or "mix and shake" anything else you can think of. He is also great with menu suggestions, likes to hold a conversation and will take care of your needs. There is also "Happy Hour" at the bar on Sunday - Thursday - great way to try new wines or drinks. If you are looking for "bistro" Asian food - CHANCE is worth your time.

Nice staff, good drinks. Love their coconut cosmos -- I also thought the appetizers (we didn't eat a whole meal) were pretty good too. The staff was really nice and friendly, and were totally on top of the ball. I'm definitely going back...

Amazing Service. We came in on Saturday night about 10 minutes before the kitchen wa supposed to be closed and we were seated promptly and our server asked the kitchen staff to wait while we ordered. The service was amazing and we really enjoyed the ambiance of the place.

I was a waitress, and this is the first time in my life I have not left a tip.. Please, please, please go ANYWHERE else on Smith Street. I didn't believe the bad reviews posted here, and I paid the price. I made reservations for 6 people for 9pm on a Saturday night on a friend's suggestion. I was threatened on the phone that if we weren't all there by 9:15, they would give our table away, so we made sure the entire party was there by 9:05 (and most of us were there long before.) We were told it wait would be "a couple of minutes." And then we were told it again. And again. And again. And again. Waiting at the bar it took me - no lie - TWENTY minutes to get a glass of friggin' wine because the bartender couldn't be bothered. The short, blond, stoic hostess also couldn't be bothered to make eye contact, let alone apologize for the wait. And honestly, if I'm waiting that long, you better make sure there is a drink in my hand. Finally, FORTY-FIVE MINUTES LATER, we were seated. Why the hell did we make reservations??? "Thanks for your patience" everyone kept saying once we were seated. At this point I was so mad all I could mutter was "Too bad I'm not patient." The food was good, if you don't count the 3 Chilean Sea Bass bones in one dumpling. Not pleasant. They were out of some of the Pris Fixe options, and forgot to bring out desserts that were ordered. On top of that, the ONE bathroom they have is disgusting (and my friend had to wait - again, no lie - 15 minutes to use it) and one of the servers kicked me in the shin while I was waiting for the table and even didn't apologize. And the salt in the wound? They didn't comp us a damned thing. Skip it. I would have rather stayed home, saved the money, and most importantly, saved myself the sheer aggravation and anger I experienced. This place is a joke. Like the title says, I'm usually a 20%+ tipper as a former waitress, and this was the first time I left absolutely no tip whatsoever.

two thumbs way down!. I've eaten at many restaurants in brooklyn - most of them relatively inexpensive (unlike this one) - and I could never say that I had a BAD meal....until now. On a Monday night at dinner time there was only one other table full besides ours, and the waitstaff was rather annoying mostly because they were bored. I ordered some dim sum and when the plate came out, it was not what I ordered, but the waiter tried to pass it off as the same dim sum, hoping that I wouldn't notice. Turns out they had none of those dim sum that was on the menu, nor did they have ingredients for another salad I ordered instead. I ended up paying $33.50 for a plate of lettuce with some yellowish sweet and very sour dressing ,with some flavorless chicken.

Delicious Fusion. I'm usually quite suspicious of fusion places- the seemingly interesting explosion of flavors leads to confusion afterwards, I can never remember what I ate and if that was good (Chubo for instance). But Chance is a more comfort-food approach to fusion. The flavors are nicely balanced but strong enough to be discerned in each dish. While the menu reads almost completely "Chinese", the spices and mild flavors are French. There are also Thai and Indian influences (the delicoius seafood pancakes with curry). Dim Sum (which were served piping hot) standouts are scallop with mushroom, sea bass with carrot, lobster with spinach and goat cheese. Even the green tea and deserts (spring roll banana, creme brule) are great. And if not for dinner, drinks here are pretty good either.
