From The Owner of Spike Hill

Spike Hill is thankfully carved into a pub and a music space, both with full bars and access to a rather delicious selection of burgers,…

A lot of pressure. Overall the bar was beautiful. GREAT beer selection. Nice booths that look enjoyable, and an extra ajoined room with space to spare. I came to visit because I just moved in the neighborhood and saw the good reviews. I decided to stop in based on the advertised FREE film showing, HOWEVER... I could not enjoy the film due to a waitress bacially hounding me to buy a beer. I don't like to drink during the work week, and would have most likely been back to visit on the weekend; partly to due to my new apartment and location, but this waitress was rude and ruioned my experience. I did not even stay for the whole film. Sad but true, a pressured enviroment pushed me out the door.

Original Chef is back. Just to let everyone know, the original chef has returned. The food is being brought back to a higher standard and finishing touches are being put on the expanded space next door.

Irish snugs, single malts and gourmet fish-and-chips hit Williamsburg's main strip.. Co-owner Tom Schmitz, a neighborhood veteran and owner of the nearby record store Earwax, collected materials (such as found doors, dark-stained oak and mahogany) to craft this handsome pub, furnished with inviting, semi-private snugs. Fish-and-chips, shepherd's pie and an all-day (and all-night) Irish breakfast are on the menu. The bar's extensive selection of single-malt Scotches and bourbons, as well as 12 rotating tap beers and more than 30 by the bottle, attracts a congenial clientele.

bartenders great/make it there before 7. Beers on tap are great with enough selection and one of the few places in billyburg that serves a killer Radeberger. Bartenders extremely friendly guarunteeing a carte blanche 'Cliff & Norm' experience to any newcomer. Unfortunately the happy hour ends at 7 blasting the pints back to manhattan prices and since their old chef left, food has gone down the tubes.

Great head of Guinness!!. Always on the search for a good hamburger...FOUND IT...beats Mollys (although they have sawdust and fireplace). Irish fry up great (myself I skip the white pudding & double up on the black)...good mix crowd...everybody made to feel welcomed.

ALL-IN-ALL...A TIME WISELY INVESTED.

Great Food, Great Hang Out. The menu looks traditional but the food that comes out is really tasty and gourmet . . . not your average Irish fried food . . . Fish and Chips, burgers, etc with a twist. The vibe is also a refreshing change from the teenie bopper desperate-to-be-cool vibe of Williamsburg. It's the way a bar should be: actually cool, interesting people but relaxed and mellow . . . and unlike most NYC bartenders and waitstaff, the folks at this place are courteous and attentive without being pushy . . .

a place for the serious drinker. No tellys, perfect Guinness, AND the food is mighty - in a different league than your average Irish pub, especially yummy brunch, hmmh Irish fry up, nothing better for the morning after cure. They serve real Irish sausages - and don't even get me started on the bartenders....

Respite. Great selection of beers, especially for the area. If for some horrible reason you're stuck on Bedford -- say perhaps the L is down, or, like me, you decided to pass on Manhattan rent -- Spike Hill shouldn't leave your head spinning with the nauseating odor of the hipster in heat that so pervades the area. Pop in for an interesting brew, and steel your nerves before stumbling back out amongst the hundreds of twentysomethings with haircuts owed to lawnmowers, and sunglasses to people with heads immeasurably larger than their own.
