Overwhelmed staff makes it hard to enjoy a lunch hour.. I am new to the neighborhood and had about an hour to grab lunch. Pillow Cafe Lounge was recommended to me by a co-worker, so I decided to check it out. The atmosphere is lovely, especially the back patio area. A mixed blessing, however, was a busy Thursday afternoon lunch hour. I was told to take a seat and that table service would be provided. About 15 minutes later I was asked what I would like to order... knowing I only had about 40 minutes left, I decided to get a very simple grilled cheese and tomato sandwich. After about 20 minutes passed, the very nice waitress alerted me that it would be "just a few more minutes." I nodded and expected that another 5 minutes or so was fine. Meanwhile, if was obvious that the staff was a bit overwhelmed with the call-in lunch orders, the eat-in customers and the constant flow of customers ordering a variety of coffee drinks. There were only three people working at the time-- one making sandwiches, another working the register and coffee bar, and the third doing table service, taking call-in orders and bussing. It seemed that they were way overwhelmed for the mass amount of business that was occurring. Perhaps I caught them on an odd day, but when another 15 minutes passed, I felt anxious (as I needed to return to work ASAP) and asked for the ticket and for my order to be wrapped to go. I went to the register to pay and waited another 5 minutes until I apologetically asked the cashier/barista for a refund. She then found a bag that had my sandwich in it, handed it to me and I was out the door. I have to say, I did enjoy the sandwich (especially as I was starving at this point) but was kicking myself in the rear for paying close to $7 for just a grilled cheese with tomatoes that took close to an hour to get. My bad. If I do return, it will be when I have more time to relax and enjoy the place. Hopefully by that time they'll have some extra helping hands to move things along a little more quickly and smoothly.

Best Egg Salad on the planet. Pillow has moved down the street toward Grand and now it's even better. The space is big and airy, plenty of room to avoid the kids. They have the best egg salad sandwich I've ever had, sliced egg, capers, red onion and just a tiny bit of mayo on whole wheat toast. Delish. The smoothies are as good as ever, homemade hummous, and now that it's bigger the service is way faster. I heard they're getting wine and beer soon too!

Great menu, hot chickadees. The menu has a lot of interesting items. Good place for a non-meat eater to get a nice snack or lunch. I highly recommend the tuna salad sandwich -- and the hummus and avocado sandwich sounds peculiar but is really quite the taste sensation. The coffee is great... and the owners and staff just ooze charm and personality. If you are a guy, this is a great place to meet some interesting, attractive women (aka hot chicks).

Loved it!!. In addition to the great iced coffee, and fantastic service, the space is so cute!! Just the place to bring a few of your friends to hang out, or just sit and read a paper. I would definitely recommend it.

Really Cool Cafe!. Fianlly, a coffee shop with great coffee! This cafe is probably one of the best hidden treasures in this neighborhood. Their House Blend from Irving farm is to die for and even their teas are amazing, not to speak of the sandwiches. I recommend the tuna. The owners are behind the bar, so you get that excellent service. You'll find lots of artists here.
