In Short – Coffee aficionados will immediately note the huge red roaster capable of handling 30 pounds of beans at a time. As large wall maps and nearby burlap sacks attest, those coffee beans (which are all fair trade-certified) hail from Africa, Indonesia and South America. Free Wi-Fi access means customers with laptops often occupy the small Formica tables flanked by Eames-style chairs. The small display case of brownies and cookies is a sweet addition.
what happened to this place?

This place has excellent coffee, if you like it strong, that is, but the staff that I grew to know and love is disappearing at an alarming rate. All the baristas that I used to come in and talk to no longer work there, and I hear nothing but complaints about the owner. It's true that the bathroom is consistently filthy, especially when it gets busy, and they've made some nice rennovations, but I always feel like the place could be alot cleaner.
- Pros: good coffee
- Cons: bad management, dirty
Great coffee, bad attitude

The coffee is good and strong, but the employees (except for one or two) are aloof to downright rude. Maybe they once were the only game in town for a great cup of joe, but no longer. (Check out Mule one block away on 4th).
- Pros: coffee, atmosphere
- Cons: service

Delicious, fresh coffee. Not great ownership. Expensive gift sets. But man, the coffee's good, it can't be denied.
- Pros: Excellent coffee, cute ambience
- Cons: Ownership stinks
