The Scene
Saffron-colored walls, arched windows, textured tiling, comfy booths and a relaxed, convivial buzz set the tone in both the bar and small dining room. Service knows what to recommend and the dishes arrive at the perfect pace.
The Food
Though the spot takes its name from a popular Spanish cartoon, Chef Diego Gonzales's cooking is serious. Just when you think you've found a favorite, a new dish arrives to wow your palate: light and moist egg-potato combo of tortilla Espanola or crispy, melty ham and bechamel croquettes, or potato chunks in an intensely layered romesco sauce. Seafood comes off just as well, with a smoky blend of garlic, white wine, pepper and parsley lending a stewy depth to shrimp, and paprika brightening tender chunks of octopus. No dessert is offered; all the better, however, to finish off your Albarino with the first-rate platter of Spanish cheeses.

This place is great. For the quality of the food, the price is VERY reasonable and they have a great, reasonably priced winelist. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable about wine.I love this place.I would recommend to anyone

I have no idea how this restaurant has received so many 5 star reviews because between the quality of the food, and the ridiculous prices, it is worth at best 1 star (and that's stretching it). The sangria barely has any alcohol, and tastes bland. The oyster appetizer looked like it was regurgitated and tasted that way as well. The quail leg was freezing cold, and when we told the waitress that it was too cold to eat, she explained that all cold tapas were that temperature. There is a big difference between cold and the temperature of an icicle...and this was so cold it was not even edible. The Jamon Serrano plate was little better that a few slices (probably from a package) tossed on a plate, and the stuffed peppers were bland and also freezing cold. The dish of olives was small, and little better than the ones from a jar. For such low quality food the prices were astounding, and the quantities were tiny. In one dish, about half of the clam shells were actually missing clams inside. Now I understand that Tapas can be expensive, and have no illusions that quality food has a price, but these prices are truly unjustifiable. Our bill (for 2) was a bit over $100.00, and we still left feeling hungry. Please, before you even think about going to this place, read all of the REAL reviews...not the fake ones that go on and on about how authentic and cozy this place is. We fell into the trap of reading the good ones, and writing off the bad ones as isolated incidents, and that was a BIG mistake...actually a $100.00 mistake.

the service was sooooo slow. A few of the items we ordered were ok, the cheese stick things forget what they are called. The chicken with french fries was the nastiest thing.... it looked and tasted like they had pulled it out of the dupster at the meat packing plant 2 blocks away...... The sangria was good but the small pitcher was only 3 glasses. Bad value. I do hear that they have a decent happy hour, might be worth checking out for drinks .
