In Short
An extension of a young coffee chain from Ithaca, NY, this relaxed hangout, decorated with black booths, sleek swivel chairs and colorful artwork, brings the craftsmanship of master roaster John Gant to Brooklyn. All espresso shots are triple ristretto, and daily blends such as Deep Disco and Platinum Blonde come with whimsical descriptions to match--think "Magical Deep Cherry" and "Centennial Harley Leather." The drip is also nothing to laugh at, with a wide variety of beans roasted at Gimme Coffee's upstate facility for maximum freshness.

They have good espresso to work with (Leftist Blend), and more importantly, they know what to do with it. Thought they might slip a bit when Chris left for Atlanta, but Mike has held it together and they're still the kings (and queens) of Williamsburg for quality espressos and cappuccinos. Only gripe is we've found them closed at times around the holidays with no notice. Varietals selection also impressive and very good (had El Bergel CoE last trip).

This is the best coffee ever. Don't expect to hang out here all afternoon, as there are only three booths. Also, if they're available, get an almond croissant. It's absolutely perfect with an americano.

Why is so much better here? I wish all the coffee shops in the neighborhood made lattes this good. My morning train commute would be so much more pleasant if my fellow travelers enjoyed their morning coffee half as much. Plus they have pastries from Balthazar. What a great way to start the day...
