No longer there. This place is no longer there. In fact, I was told it's been out of business at this address for almost 2 years.

Don't waste the time of a trip out to this place like I did today. Now there's a French bistro at this address.

Not the place to go for Pho!. I read a few reviews from other writers that said this was a good place to go for pho. After looking at the menu I saw that it was called "Classic Vietnamese Oxtail Broth" which was much more accurate than calling it pho. I ordered the soup, however, and it was a bad idea. Not very good at all! My girlfriend ordered the beef crepes though and my friend had the marinated beef noodles both of which were pretty good. Overall it was alright, not that impressive.

for every bad review there are ten good ones.... i guess it's probably understandable that people who have crappy service are more likely to write a review than those who don't... but i couldn't stand the bad rap mekong was getting so i had to put my two cents in. i LOVE this place! i've been going to mekong for the past two years and have never had bad service. true, you won't have leftovers. but the prices aren't unfair, and the food and drinks and well worth it. great atmosphere, nice outdoor seating, great location... it's one of my favorite places in the slope. i've taken many people there and they've all felt the same.

Delicious food! And its no Mcdonalds, Sour customers?. I don't really understand some of the reviews. People are complaining about portions and price and delivery range (which are all very reasonable) as if they are expecting a Chinese take out sort of place! That it is not. The food is delicious, (Calamarie is first rate) the ambience is fun, the staff is friendly, they have a good wine selection. Some of the complaints seem to be off based and or exaggerated and I know i'll be definitely returning.

Good food, small portions, OVERPRICED.. Had a similar experience with ordering takeouts from them as previous reviewers. The food is good, the portions are very small, and the price.. jesus.. waaay too much for what you get. If they only had larger portions, and/or cheaper prices, it would have been an awesome restaurant. But given the portions size and price, I can't recommend it wholeheartedly.

Fun and relaxed with good food at fair prices. I recently visited this place with some friends on a Saturday night. It was crowded but they were able to seat us after a 10 minute wait at the bar. Everyone we encountered was fun and friendly--the bartender chatted with us as he prepared cocktails (raspberry mojito--yum) and our server was mellow and helped a Mexican friend who doesn't know Vietnamese food find her way around the menu.

The food itself was good--not sublime, but a good value and definitely quite enjoyable.

My guess is that the negative reviews were submitted by other restaurateurs on 5th who are threatened by Mekong's combo of tasty, affordable food, excellent cocktails and laid-back service.

Believe the (BAD) Hype. With trepidation, after reading negative reviews of this place and their limited delivery area, we ordered takeout because we hadn't had Vietnamese in a while and were curious as to whether they'd deliver to us.

Oh the horror. . .food tasted fine but was ridiculously overpriced -- $30 for spring rolls and EXTREMELY skimpy lemongrass chicken and pork. 4 tiny springrolls roughly the size of an AA battery. Bizzarro credit-card thin patties of vermicelli as entrees, with very little meat and of an inferior cut (gelatinously fatty pork). The lettuce, mint, and assorted veggies that were garnish came "as-is" in grocery store produce bags, still wet with the dew from a produce isle spritzer. I'm by no means gluttonous and usually eat half of entrees, but this was absolutely ridiculous, appetizer-sized and overpriced. Unless you're DYING for Vietnamese and can't take the time to go outside Park Slope, forget it.

An intimate neighborhood Vietnamese spot with fruity drinks.. In Short
This cozy spot on Park Slope's burgeoning Fifth Avenue offers familiar takes on Vietnamese dishes, as well as some innovations. Spring rolls, both vegetarian and meat-based, grilled corn and fried dumplings are among the starters. Entrees include noodle dishes such as pad thai, country-stewed salmon, pho and lemongrass chicken. House cocktails, like potent tropical margaritas, are a popular complement.
