“All of my guests raved about what a great bar it is and how much fun they had.”
“drinks were great, the music was fantastic.”
“the music is good, there's room to dance (but not too much room), the drinks are delicious, and the vibe is a far cry from the too-cool-for-school vibes found elsewhere in williamsburg.”
“great place!”
“The space is ambient and the drinks are reasonable, and for some reason the bartenders are overly rude to the patrons.”
Best Brooklyn Bar. Hands down the best bar in Brooklyn. I've been coming to LL for a couple years, and have always had a great time. Service, drinks and music are always top shelf.
This inconspicuous bar's polished vibe and lofted smoking atrium up the Williamsburg nightlife ante..
A long gray hallway off the street leads to a heavy wooden door with an impressive, lofty barroom on the other side. Exposed-brick walls and solid woodwork distinguish the airy space, which has a warm, golden look courtesy of tiny candles. Smoothly carved bar stools and reclining wooden booths mark the perimeter, leaving plenty of floor space for bigger crowds. Get there early to grab the more secluded nook in the rear. Late arrivers compete for seats with a flurry of the area's young, hip clientele. Mixed drinks are nicely and cheaply done, along with specialty cocktails and a small selection of wines by the glass.
Hits: The bar's most alluring innovation is its glass-walled outdoor smoking area, on view from the floor below. The small section, decorated with potted plants, opens to the sky.
Misses: Although many patrons seem to disregard the rule, technically drinks are not allowed in the outdoor smoking area.
Rude Staff!!!. I agree with the last review. My friends and I visited Larry Lawerence bar last night and could not believe how incredibly rude, disrespectful and condesending the bartender was to my party. To top it off, it was in front of the owner which leads me to believe that this in an acceptable form of behavior towards the customers. Save your time and money and head elsewhere because there are tons of other bars in the Williamsburg area where they will treat you with respect!!
Down the tubes goes another Burg staple..
I must say I tried giving this joint multiple chances over the last year or so. I use to love it, and even after I moved to Fort Greene I would still make the trip to enjoy it. But, now the vibe and energy of the place is that of a members only mens social club. Aside from the fact that I think they have been playing the same music for the last 3 years, the staff is by large the rudest in years.
Although it does have a great smoking area (it's only saving grace) I would not recommend even my ex boyfriends go here. I have too much respect for even people I loathe.
My new favorite bar. I just moved to the neighborhood, and this is hands down my new favorite bar. The space is awesome, the drinks are pretty cheap for the area, the crowd is mellow and friendly, and the bartenders are extremely cool. It's a great place to hang with friends or to make some new ones; everyone feels like members of a secret club - if you can find the door! Love it love it.
Great for Birthday Parties!. I recently had my birthday party there and it was great...I called a couple of weeks in advance and they reserved the back room for us and there was a staff member who was assigned to make sure we were content all night...the staff were all wonderful and the place wasn't too overly crowded. All of my guests raved about what a great bar it is and how much fun they had...great place!
BROOKLYN LOST THE DODGERS NOW ITS SOUL....
Jeeesus H!!! This place reeks of funny duddies, lame hipsters and a workforce of yuppies. Indie rock all NIGHT. How many times can I listen to HOT CHIP, THE SHINS, and THE STROKES inna lifetime? Gimme some of that CHRIS BROWN baby!!! Now that all the good spaces and bars have been taken from US, we TRUE Brooklynites have no choice but to suffer our impending fate similar to that of the Native Americans.
Overall, I love the space, that's only reason I give this place a ONE out of TEN. Blame the other NINE on the staff, especially the TALL DUDE that looks like the Indian on ONE FLEW OVER THE CUCKOO'S NEST and the OWNER is something else I tell ya. $75 worth of drinks and no buy backs? Classy.
sooo much fun. my girl and I threw a birthday party last weekend here and it worked out perfectly. we had such a fun time and the owners were super nice and geve us a reserved section in the back where our friends could hang out. great place to throw a party. great drinks too.
Beautiful space, nice staff.
I just had my birthday there last weekend. I'm not sure why everyone keeps knocking on the bartenders because they were very sweet and friendly to me!
The space is beautiful. The upper deck is a nice twist. The music is loud enough that you can enjoy it, but quiet enough that you can actually hear your friends. I suggest checking it out for a nice chill evening!
I had no idea. I've lived in Wburg for over ten years, thought I had been to all the bars worth drinking in...nope. Larry Lawrence is great. What a beautiful space. I had no idea this place existed, and I've walked by it a thousand times. drinks were great, the music was fantastic. a polished bar with a super vibe.
