Amazing Margaritas! Sassy Servers! Food still good... – I love this place! We've been coming here for 4 years, especially during the summer even though it's so packed and busy. But we come again and again because it's so much fun, and the margarita's are amazing! I know they changed the menu recently, new owners or something, but some of our good old faves are still there--pork quesadilla! ribs! and thos freaking nachos!!
have a margarita, sit outside, have another margarita and tell the sassy girls and guys who bring you your food we said hello! they're awesome.
great for food and drinks – This is a great place. Good food, good margueritas and a great atmosphere. Sure the waitresses aren't quite friendly. But the food and atmosphere more than make up for it.
crapico? – was gonna drive 40min for Baja Fresh on long island, then was gonna go to Alma (which we love)... but decided to try a new place. I wish we had just gone to San Loco where the food is better. Pacifico basically stinks, literally too. the decor is great albeit dirtyish. coming out of the bathroom (no paper towels before dinner rush had even begun) i almost yuked when i looked downstairs towards the prep kitchen.. if the prep kitchen looks filthy from the outset, the inset is probably vile. the food confirmed it. flavorless and avg for the most part. the menus themselves were disgusting even, i mean, would xeroxing a few new paper inserts be too much effort for whoever 'manages' this place? and the margaritas were terrible, point blank. if i wanted tequila on the rocks with a splash of lime and triple sec thrown in, i wouldve ordered it that way. no balance, no flavor. if youre drunk already or alma is full, go to crapico (pacifico)
Plain Awful – Tried to go with five friends on a Saturday night. We were told the wait would be 1 hour. We noticed a number of empty tables, but shrugged and waited. We wound up being seated at one of those empty tables about 45 minutes later.
The food was subpar, really basic, generic, frozen food burritos But worse than that was the service. My word. We had a waitress who could not be bothered. She was rude from the get go, angry when we ordered, and obnoxious when we asked for simple things like napkins, or to have our apetizer plates cleared.
Most notably, my friend BROKE HIS TOOTH on undercooked rice. When the manager was notified she simply shrugged it off. Thankfully the waitress finally came around and offered our meal for free (which was only just). That redeemed her service for the evening... but not the restaurant.
great atmosphere & tostadas – This is a great neighborhood favorite with the unique combination of a warm feel in winter (thanks to the roaring fireplace and kitschy giant christmas lights) and a great summery feel as well (due to outdoor seating). The service does depend on who is working -- coke-bottle glasses waiter is wonderful, while some of the female waitresses can be a bit rude and forgetful. But the food is worth it -- the chicken tinga tostadas are so good I can never bring myself to get anything else there. Also, the queso fundido appetizer is outstanding (if a little greasy). The cash only policy is the only real downside of Pacifico -- it's a consistently great place to go.
Beautiful garden, terrible food – We went to Pacifico because of the great outdoor patio -- it has a very fun and relaxed vibe for a summer evening. Unfortunately, though, that is the only thing I can recommend about Pacifico. I hadn't been there for dinner in a couple of years, and the food (which, to be honest, was never really good) has gone downhill. This is no place to come for good Mexican food -- the burritos taste microwaved and the guacamole is weird and slimy. Repulsive! That might even have been okay if we had had enough pitchers of margaritas. But it was nearly impossible to get the waitress's attention to order more drinks. Overall, the service was rude for no apparent reason, as they weren't all that busy. I had such nice memories of Pacifico, it was disappointing to see how terrible the restaurant has become.
great food great service – I am a regular @ pacifico I've been there alone , as a couple and a group.
My friends and I love the margueritas. the food is consistently amazing and affordable.
As for the service its always been friendly. from the very accomadating host who always comes over to see if were having a good time. The bartenders and servers all join in the fun with their customers while doing a great job.
If you like watching VERMIN scurry around while you eat, this is the place for you! – On a recent trip to Pacifico, my husband and I were terribly disappointed by the service. We were seated on the patio/deck area, nestled in next to to the restaurant. The waiter didn't want to be bothered with us, which was infuriating because we WERE regulars. Anyway, while I was finishing my meal I saw a baby rodent scurry by (where there's one, there are others). I pointed it out to a nearby waitress and she said "Oh my." She walked away and the manager came over and didn't apologize or act the least bit concerned. She simply asked us if we wanted to move. We said that we wanted to leave. Our waiter then came over and shrugged and said, "Well, you are sitting outside." The thing is, we weren't out on the street--it's a deck, and the rodent clearly came from inside the restaurant!! The employees there must see rodents all the time, that's the only thing would describe their lax attitudes. No apologees, no real concern, and no sense of customer service!!!!!! And now I'll probably catch the plague...
Pleasantly Average – The food is not bad, just not great. New Yorkers are constantly searching for real Mexican food, it's so elusive in this city, just like Angelinos are on the lookout for a good bagel. I don't think we found it yet, aside from a few secret bodegas which don't make for a comfy dining experience. Pacifico has a great space, with a comfortable front deck, a smoking garden and a spacious main room. The service is friendly and fast. I really did like my black bean soup, which was not too thick, well spiced and had the added bonus of cruchy tortilla chip strips. The fish tacos, on the other hand, were not what we hoped for. This was a messy combination of deep-fried fish nuggets, soupy cole slaw type salad and fresh corn tortillas. The main flavor seemed to be the corn in the tortilla, the rest of the ingredients were just bland. Also, fish tacos made with shredded grilled fish are so much tastier than the deep fried stuff (try barrio chino's version!) The grilled corn, which came on the side, wasn't grilled long enough, had too much butter on it, was missing the sharpness of the queso blanco and was made with the watery, flavorless late summer or over-stored corn. Decent house margs! Come for drinks, the ambiance and perhaps a big plate of nachos, but don't expect a fine dining experience.
Ultra Cool Mexican - visit it today – This place is brilliant. Oozing ultra cool atmousphere; warm, friendly, relaxed and funky environment. A wide choice of appetisers and entres - we tried nearly everything and it was all delicious, even managed to squeeze in a tasty key lime pie for desert. Ohhh, and the margaritas were amazing!! We went there as a family group, but would also be cool for couples and groups of friends. Try it soon .... You'll be sure of a great evening out whatever the occasion. PS leave yourself enough time to try Trout, the new funky outside bar next door.
