The Scene – Is Red Hook the next Williamsburg? A few treks to this lofty music venue have already prompted some fans to seek apartments nearby. Industrial as DUMBO and brimming with potential, both Red Hook--and its best new asset--are a delicious, hard-rocking respite from Brooklyn's restaurant rows and ho-hum bars. They serve Schlitz in a can and malt liquor 40s, and don't even try to pay by credit card. It's a totally independent gig with big ideas, Jager in the fridge and music variety up the wazoo. – – The Draw – Whatever the music on tap--ranging from…
WORST PLACE EVER
by NurseEli
Hard to find...first of all. Second of all, when we walked in all you saw was a bunch of wierdos with spiked hair-dos, pierced lips, knee high socks, Adidas and glow sticks jumping around like lunatics. The entire place smelled like Vix Vapor Rub and the music was some strange hard core underground techno. My brother and I walked in and walked right back out...but not before getting a refund on the $15 cover charge per person. The only good thing about it was that it was easy to get into......obviously.
amazing space - amazing sound

First of all - this place is easy as pie to get to - the walk from the train is shorter than many I've taken in Alphabet City to get to where I'm going. This is hands down one of the coolest venues I've been to - a really state-of-the-art stage and sound system...an awesome vibe...bleachers to hang out in and sizeable backyard to hang out in. It's exciting to be in a place like this because you feel like you're in on an awesome little secret. I'll be going to The Hook a lot more often.
- Pros: Huge space. Great sound. Great ambience. Very relaxed vibe.
- Cons: Don't take credit cards so bring cash.
