The Subway of takeout pizza joints embraces fresh ingredients and store-made crusts..
In Short
These bright white storefronts are accented with green and red details and photos of the chain's boyish founder. The simple menu focuses on standard pies and chicken-centric specialty pizzas--the Hawaiian BBQ, BBQ chicken, and bacon and chicken club--each topped with fresh ingredients like baby portobello mushrooms and roma tomatoes. A selection of sides includes bread sticks, cheese sticks, chicken strips and a handful of dipping sauces.
Wow, I can't believe this made the Top 10.. The presence of Papa John's in the Top 10 Pizza joints in NYC means one of two things. Either pizza in NY has gone downhill or there are a lot of midwesterners who move to the city and don't understand what real pizza is supposed to taste like. Don't get me wrong - Papa John's pizza really isn't that bad. In a large part of the country it really is the best pizza you can find, but come on! This is New York City! Where's the thin, crispy crust? It's chewy and bready. Where's the fresh mozzarella? It's a processed cheese blend. I have nothing against Papa John's. Outside of New York I feel more comfortable ordering from PJs than any other chain pizzeria. But Top 10 in NYC? No way.
Papa Johns is horrible. Whoever woke up and had the time to nominate PApa Johns as a pizzeria is just sad.Grow up.They can't even get the basics of a pizzeria right.
switch to Mickey d's. If the best NYC can offer is Papa John's, lets get McDonalds to make pizza too !
