Terrible Cupcakes. I went to DA since my normal cupcake place (Betty's Bakery) was closed. I had high hopes since DA is well reviewed on this site and there were others inside also buying treats. However, the terrible-ness of the cupcakes has prompted me to write my first-ever City Search review. They were just horrid! The cake was stale and the "vanilla" (it didn't really have any flavor) buttercream was miserable. I ordered four different cupcakes and the only redeeming thing about the four was that one had some chocolate ganache icing which wasn't too bad. Definitely look elsewhere (Betty's - a few doors down) for better goodies.

EXCELLENT CUPCAKES!!!!!!. I was a little apprehensive about this place seeing as I am not a fan of too many places in Brooklyn, however I was proven wrong. The food was excellent, especially the cupcakes from the bakery. However, I have to say that it was our waiter that made our visit. Not only was he really nice, he was hilarious and personable. If he is still working there, definitely reccomend the waiter with the long blonde hair

Good Local. I have been to DA a lot of times. The food is pretty reliable and the staff is quite friendly.

It's not the best food but the prices are good and, as I said, they have a nice welcoming atmosphere.

Great all around. The food is delicious- great place to have a nice lunch. We had a chicken breast sandwich on focaccia w/ a tasty guacomole sauce, and the most amazing burger I've had in a really long time. Great friendly service and don't forget to grab a cupcake or coconut custard tart before you go. All nicely priced.

Wonderful Standby But Service Is Slacking.... Please, please stay in our good graces. Delicious food. Family friendly atmosphere. Great Value! Wonderful menu. We could linger here forever. There used to be the most amazing server named Tim who is no longer their. The current servers are a little in over their heads.. this place can be restored to its original splendor if it gets its service together. The food is always fantastic and the bar relaxed and fun!

Who would have guessed I'd love it?. I think this place is weird. There's a bar with TVs showing sports (not my scene), a sort of uninspiring menu, and a bakery stuffed in front. How could I have known that the food would be so FANTASTIC? Though we knew they had great cupcakes and these completely to die for little chocolate cookies, we had kind of written of the restaurant due to the standard "roasted beet salad" kind of menu. I'm so glad we ended up there by accident one rainy day. It turns out that the specials were much more interesting to me than the normal menu, and the chocolate pots de creme is completely decadent in a way that is almost inappropriate (by inappropriate I mean gaudy, and by gaudy I mean fantastic). And that standard roasted beet salad is the best one I've had... fresh, sweet, tart, and soul satisfying. Brunch is solid (go ahead and fill up on the pumpkin bread they give you to start, you can always take what you don't eat home). The service is charming, almost familial, and informal in a way that is refreshing. So, yum... it's not the place to impress out of towners, but when you just want good food without all the normal New York this 'n' that, this is the place to go.

Great dining on premises but avoid delivery at all costs. The reviews are right... this is a true gem amidst the mediocrity of mass fare offered on nearby Smith Street. The service is friendly and unintrusive, the quality of food high and the atmosphere welcoming, unlike many other "local" places that so bend over backwards to be hip that they get everything else wrong. Be warned, however, that your best option is eating in--delivery is ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE. The best burger in town when had on premises becomes a messy--and pricey--disappointment when ordered for delivery. It took over an hour, they screwed up the credit card charge, and the food didn't even come in a takeout container. The burgers and fries were wrapped only in wax paper and shoved in a paper bag, all of which had become a cold, greasy, soggy mess by the time we sat down to eat it.

Great decor, mostly good food, service left something to be desired.... My lunch date requested her dish be cooked well-done - needless to say it came burnt after a 45 minute wait. That's not the type of impression I like to give during business lunches. The extreme wait and rude indifference of the waitstaff was quite dissappointing. If not for my own meal being delicious and the decor being wonderful I would forever write this place off.

Great variety, great place. I came to eat at DA last night and the food was delicious, the service was right on. If you want to dine at a low key spot and still have a great menu to choose from, this is an option. I had the Asian Chicken Salad which was tasty and not at all bland with sliced grilled chicken, portabella mushrooms and greens with a peanut vinagrette. Everyone else had their tuna special or ragout, claimed as outstanding food. The amount of food is abundant even for someone like me who loves to eat. Prices are extremely reasonable!

Great!. The food is always well prepared. They have a wonderful eclectic menu and the service is top notch. Live music on the weekends and the best cupcakes in NY makes this a perfect experience. I threw a party for 12 people and it was a smashing success.
