“would highly recommend this store to anyone looking for great clothing, great advice, and a relaxing atmosphere outside the city hustle.”
“Contrary from other reviewers, I thought the sales staff were quite friendly, they even offered me a cup of tea and a heath bar!”
“breath of fresh air!”
“Great and varied selection, priced right, high quality clothes, clean clothing”
“But overall, I would say this is one of my favorite NY stores and worth the trip to Brooklyn.”
“local bar serves better drinks (ours were god awful) and the service is much friendly!”
“am a huge shopper and I was able to find the best of the best at this store on Atlantic Ave. in Brooklyn.”
too much attitude.
i really want to be a butter shopper but the owner has such attitude that it is really a shame! Maybe she has never heard of the saying DO NOT JUDGE A BOOK BY ITS COVER. but WOW. I would rather spend my money elsewhere! I do not feel that I can go back and humilitated my this person.
I hope she takes note! Because I am a big advocate of supporting small businesses. JUST NOT THIS ONE!
brooklyns best boutique. i've visited my fare share of boutiques, but none have impressed me like butter. it's a one stop shop. from accessories to shoes to hip clothing. i especially like the simplicity of the store and the timber display shelves. all of the employees were especially helpful and friendly. furthermore, i think butter is good for brooklyn. it's paving the way for more boutiques in the area. love butter.
My favorite boutique in Brooklyn. I just started shopping at Butter since I moved to the area from Manhattan. The selection is impeccable and ultra-modern. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. I never thought I could find the high-end labels of Barneys in a clean, inviting Brooklyn boutique. I never leave without buying something unique and fabulous. SO glad this store is in my neighborhood!
Nothing but compliments. I was fortunate enough to find this refreshingly unique store in Brooklyn. Butter is one of those rare boutiques that sell high quality clothing with boutique style customer service. The owners? dedication is apparent in that they are familiar with every article of clothing and know how to personalize looks to their customer?s tastes. Unlike a department store, the attention given to individual customer opinions and styles makes this boutique worth visiting on a regular basis. I would highly recommend this store to anyone looking for great clothing, great advice, and a relaxing atmosphere outside the city hustle.
you must be kidding.
what is going on at butter??? I used to be a customer when I lived in the neighborhood and it was great!
Only to return to such attidude. I am appalled. The owners/sisters were friendy. Well at least one of them was - but now she is not around and not a word was spoken about her either which I thought was strange. The new guy working might be the only saving grace but you have to look beyond the dark eye make-up. Has butter lost it's touch? It would be a shame. I am sad to say.
why bother with manhattan?. was recommended to butter by a good friend who lives in brooklyn. i've done all of my shopping in manhattan since first moving here many years ago, but never thought i'd find a shop quite like this outside of the city. not only is the service helpful, attentive, and friendly, but the selection is about as i've good as i've ever seen in new york period! i dealt with gentry, who was infinitely helpful (not to mention gorgeous) in helping me to select a dress. i was looking for something elegant, but casual enough to wear on a semi-regular basis. i settled for a piece from rick owens, one of my absolute favorites. also couldn't help but try on a pair of new boots. the selection is really something special. and the shop itself is done very tastefully and very well-edited. strange that others have had bad experiences here in the past - i myself was pleased well beyond most other experiences i've had with shops in the city. will be back soon!
Shop no where else!. Now, I don't really like to share but...The owner of Butter has "impeccable" taste. If you don't have the time to riffle through Barneys, and deal with the lousy lighting at Bergdorfs, go to Butter. The store is a manageable size, the clothes are beautifully presented and the selection is unmatched anywhere in the city. Bravo!! Great stuff!
Worst saleswomen in New York. And that's saying something! The haughty harridans who work at Butter seem to exist just to look down their noses at customers. No offers of help. Nothing but attitude-- maybe they're angry that they're in Brooklyn and not on 5th Avenue? It's sad, because some of the clothing they sell is intriguing (though most is boring and Belgian). Years ago, I even purchased things there. But Lucky Magazine, among others, has drooled all over the shop, and it seems like their kind words have gone to the unpleasant owner's head. She has apparently scared all the nice salesgirls away, and me too. I've been in there one too many times, and I'm done.
Butter's Awful Customer Service.
The store has beautiful merchandise but the woman with dark wavy above the shoulder hair was very rude.
I asked her to tell me about the clothes and she only spoke three words in a condesending tone, "They are designer."
I truly wanted to by a gorgroeus outfit but I guess that she judged I could not afford it so why help me.
Next time, don't allow me into the store, after I ring the door bell at least that way you will not waste my time if you have decided that you are not going to help me.
Customer service will be key especially if you want to broaden your clientele base. All shoppers should be treated as if they are ready to buy two pieces from Dries Van Noten's spring collection.
Can't do it to myself.. Obnoxious staff. I got no help whatsoever, and why turn away a customer who wants to support your business? There are a couple stores on Court or Montague street that I rather patronize with my girlfriends than this. Marni, Dries and other big names doesn't make up for how horrible their attitude is.
