Editorial Review for People Lounge – by Janet Tzou
The Scene
This modern space opens to an airy, lofty atrium dotted with subtle details. Dark-wood tables accent the comfortable apple-green suede couches, while plentiful recessed lighting ensures that the conspicuously single late-20s and 30s crowd looks its softly lit best. Don't miss the den-like atmosphere upstairs. The chocolate-brown walls, a waterfall pane and separate bar are the perfect backdrop for meeting new friends. The great sound system and lack of VIP area help reinforce a relaxed, but elegant, vibe.
The Draw
It's easy to see why people return to People. The bar, run by several ex-Indochine restaurateurs, cultivates a diverse crowd and a more casual vibe pervades as a result. For a treat, choose a cocktail made with home-brewed vodka infusions, such as the lychee martini, which tastes like biting into a juicy, ice-kissed lychee fruit.

Insider Tips
Food ServedPeople Kitchen offers a complete dinner menu of Asian-infused cuisine, as well as a selection of late-night treats like chicken satay skewers and spring rolls. If that's not your style, there's plenty of cheap late-night eats in the area, including the ever-popular Rosario Pizza.
Look GoodThere's no official dress code, but the bar has standards--sneakers and jeans are fine, but athletic gear is frowned upon.
Know Before You GoCall at least a month ahead to book space for large private parties.

Been here several times of the past few years. And recently they opened a full kitchen! YUM YUM YUM! My Friends and I had a birthday dinner here before we stayed to party the night away. I had the crispy calamari with curry mayo, and the crispy fish with a spicy sauce and a lychee cheescake for dessert. A couple of drinks each and it was great. The best part the prices didnt empty our wallets afterward! The manager bought us a round of shots, gave some bottled water to my tipsy girlfriends, and at the end of the night, we couldnt believe we ended up staying here for about 5 hours! One stop shop!
Pros: Great Drinks, Good Food, Good Music
Cons: Security can be tough, but i guess they have to be in NY

I had my 25th bday here along with my friend. We got a nice spot reserved on top floor. The manager was awesome. Drinks were great (lychee martini was the best) and prices were good (under 10 bucks a drink). seating reservation was free. DJ was AMAZING!!! he played everything from 80's (only in the beginnign) to House, R&B, and hip hop. The place got pretty crowded on this saturday night and the dance floor was pumpin - few people sat in their seats all night. But beware...I had 2 full drinks on the table and the busboy picked them up. I complained to the manager and he got me 2 new free ones and told me to watch my drinks...this is a common problem at a lot of places that i go to... come on ppl!! Don't take my drink while im dancing!! i then go to the bar and try and drink of my drinks when my friend yells "that bartender just took your shot!" I couldnt believe it happened again! I tried to get his attention but he kept ignoring me and snapping at me "WAIT YOUR TURN!" without even looking at me. I finally yelled to the other bartender and name dropped the manager and they got me a new shot and this time i held on tight. I don't see what they gain by stealing people's drinks...i wasn't going to buy a new one that's for sure! Fire that rude bartender! Overall everyone had a great time! Food is good too!
Pros: MUSIC MUSIC MUSIC!!! Food and drinks, manager is awesome
Cons: Staff kept stealing my drinks when I was dancing or chatting with my friends @ the bar!
