Brooklyn >Clemente's Maryland Crabhouse

“true Maryland crab cake has succulent lumps of lump style crab meat in a little patty with nice seasoning.”

“the sea food joint's chow was wonderful.”
“For those who are not fish people, there are other foods to choose from on the menu that are just as delicious.”
“Its a shame because we really did enjoy having dinner here, but too many consecutive bad expereriences with very poor service have turned us off.”
“mainly go for the crabs and the affordable drinks.”
“The wait is long but the bar staff makes sure that you enjoy the wait.”
Very disappointing in every aspect except for the waitresses. We asked to be seated outside on the deck. The deck is well worn and grungy. The outside of the building is rotting and an old rusty can of bug spray sat abandoned on one of the railings with other assorted discarded items. Inspite of feeling yucky, we dismissed the visuals because the food is supposed to be the draw. It was at best only fair by a stretch. We started off with crab bisque, a creamy and buttery soup with little in the way of crab and absoultely no salt or pepper. This could have been a knockout if it was seasoned and had some crab in it. P.S. there is no salt or pepper available on any table. The salads were fair. I had the tomato and mozarella and my wife had the asian ceseare. For an entree I had the crab cakes. They were cooked perfectly and had a good amount of crab but they were tasteless and bland, lacking any seasoning what-so-ever. The side of vegetables were the same as was the rice. My wife had shrimp fra diavlo with linguini - also tasteless and bland with the pasta not completely cooked. The staff was friendly and accomidating. The food is expensive and your money would be better spent elseware. We could not recommend this restaurant to anyone. I gave it 1 star for the staff.
We drive there from Manhattan on a regular basis. The fact that we regularly drive here for seafood speaks for itself. Crabs, lobster, crabcakes, raw bar, jumbo crabs, all you can eat crabs, all delicious and fresh, great location, wonderful staff. I have never had a single bad experience there, stellar, simply 5 star stellar!!!!
WATCH OUT!!!. It Took them 1 hour and 20 minutes to seat us while more than half the tables were empty on a Saturday night. It was like a bad movie. I asked the hostess "whats up with all the empty tables?" She replied "those are reserved". THose same tables stayed empty the whole night. After waiting for an hour i asked again and she said that the kitchen was backed up.. That's ridiculous to me, in this economy when businesses are dying for clientele these peop-le are rejecting business away. Either hire more staff or close down!!! This place is a joke
Don't be a fool. This place was horrible. I decided one night I was in the mood for some seafood, so I went for a place that was local. First it was a difficult place to find, second the place is a hole in the wall with bad lighting. Only two waitresses to wait on the entire restaurant. Me and my girlfriend ordered crab cakes for appetizers. It took less then ten minutes to get it, and guess what they were not even hot and the plate was all leafy greens. Bad start. I ordered a soda thinking it would at least be served in a glass, nope plastic cups. By the way no free refills. You would get more bringing in your own 1 liter bottle then what they gave me that night. Finally the main courses came out I had a lobster roll with some fries. Roll was less then impressive my girlfriend had the shrimp and lobster ravioli. It was decent but could have been better. This place sucks so don't waste your time. You would be better off going to city island. You will get more for your money trust me..plz take my word for it.
Needs to be managed better.
Its a shame because we really did enjoy having dinner here, but too many consecutive bad expereriences with very poor service have turned us off.
Waitresses disappear, orders are forgotten or taken incorrectly, tables left dirty..... and management doesn't seem to mind at all.
fresha you betcha. the crab dishes were really fresh and the ambience and drinks were equally fantastic. i wish it was easier to get to, but then again it doesnt hurt tht its a "destination" spot
Great crab and more. With its Tiki Bar and breezy seaside patio, this laid-back spot is popular with Sheepshead Bay locals looking to enjoy all-you-can-eat crab and other seafood specialties.
Best Seafood / Crabs Anywhere......
I have eaten at this heaven for crabs MANY times and if you haven't, then you haven't eaten crabs. Evenings sitting on the deck, bucket of crabs in one hand and a beer in the other mean SUMMER IN BROOKLYN BABY!!! (and now they are open all year so I can have summer anytime).
Also, if you still have room and come on, you still have room for this. Get the Deep Fried Twinkie (No, I'm not kidding).
The only down side is it is pretty much a cash only place so plan ahead (or use their ATM).
Just get your butt down to Clemente's and have a feast!!
GREAT FOOD TREATED LIKE ONE OF THE FAMILY. LET ME START BY SAYING I COME FROM THE BRONX, WE HAVE OUR OWN SEAFOOD RESTAURANTS ON THE WATER NOT MORE THAN FIFTEEN MINS. FROM MY HOUSE. THAT SAID LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT THIS GREAT LITTLE PLACE I FOUND BY ACCIDENT. CLEMENTES CRABHOUSE THERE IS SOMETHING ABOUT THIS PLACE THAT KEEPS ME COMING BACK. NO JOKE I GO 2 OR 3 TIMES A WEEK IF I GET THE CHANCE. I HAVE TRIED EVERYTHING ON THE MENU EXCEPT BELIVE IT OR NOT THE ALL U CAN EAT CRABS. IM NOT A BIG FAN OF CRABS. SO LETS GET DOWN TO THE REVIEW .I NEVER ORDERED ANYTHING THAT I DIDN'T LIKE ,THE STEAK IS UNBELIEVABLE, WHAT YOU WOULD EXPECT FROM FROM ONE OF THOSE BIG NAME STEAK HOUSES! THE PASTA DISHES ARE VERY GOOD, THE BURGERS ARE NO JOKE, PROBABLY THE BEST I HAVE EVER EATIN. THIS YEAR THEY ADDED A RAW BAR, I WAS THERE LAST NITE AND ORDERD ONE OF THE TOWERS, THATS RIGHT, TOWERS YOU HAVE TO SEE THIS THING UNBELIEVABLE THE PRESENTATION WAS OUTRAGOUS.I CANT SAY ENOUGH ABOUT THIS PLACE. IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A PLACE WITH GREAT FOOD WHERE YOU CAN JUST KICK BACK NOT FEEL RUSHED AND BE TREATED LIKE ONE OF THE FAMILY. I HAVE FOUND IT. ALL I CAN HOPE IS THAT THE OWNER (JIMMY) FINALY GETS TIRED OF LISTINING TO ME AND OPENS ANOTHER ONE OF THESE LITTLE HOT SPOTS IN THE BRONX (THE GAS AND TOLLS ARE KILLING ME! ) SERIOUSLY JIMMY IF YOU ARE READING THIS ,THE BRONX WILL WELCOME YOU WITH OPEN ARMS. ENOUGH SAID CHECK THIS PLACE OUT, YOU WON'T BE DISSAPOINTED.
excellent seafood. my husband and i were looking to try a new restaurant so we decided to try clemente's. the sea food joint's chow was wonderful. the food and fish were fresh and well cooked, absolutey delish! i highley reccomend the lobster and all you can eat crabs. for the most part, the staff was very kind, extremely helpful, and friendly. the only turn off from the staff was a woman who was bragging to be the owners sister, personally i find stuff like this obnoxious and a turn off. other th,an that i highly recomend eating here because the food is great and so is the water front location.
