DISHONEST Stereotypical Car Dealership.
I called this dealership 3/1/2012 about a Certified 2008 Sienna Limited with 19k miles. I spoke with a few people before finally talking with the actual salesman, Ray Simeone. Ray was very nice and very helpful. Molly seemed to be the 1st person you talk with about pre-owned before starting the process with a salesman. Ray and I had numerous phone conversations, text messages and emails about the condition of the van and the sales terms as I live 500 miles away from the dealership. I also had a conversation and email with Carl Feoli (Pre-owned Sales Manager) about the car requesting something in writing regarding our negotiated terms. I ended up agreeing to paying full price plus half the cost to repaint some serious gouges in the paint on the front bumper. The car was supposed to go to the paint shop the weekend of 3/10 but was delayed due to a damaged parking sensor and non-working 3 row power seat. Then the van was to go to the paint shop the weekend of 3/17 but there was supposedly a sudden death in Carl's family and he was out till 3/19 or 3/20.
The process seemed to be going slower than I though was natural so on Monday 3/12 I asked Ray if Carl was having 2nd thoughts about selling the Van. Ray said "no, but I'll ask him". I let it rest Monday 3/19 and then texted Ray this morning, 3/20, only to be told that the van had been sold and was delivered yesterday.
Ya know, the reviews for this dealership were quite mixed but I thought I'd take a chance. Some were good and I'd hoped that I'd be one of them. I have the very distinct feeling that the majority of the good reviews were written by people from the dealership.
If I were not a fairly loyal Toyota customer with prior Toyota ownership and dealership experience, this would keep me from EVER buying a Toyota product EVER. Bay Ridge Toyota is a blemish of the Toyota name and should have their dealership revoked.
I expected more from a franchised Toyota Dealership.
terrible. I created a citysearch profile for the sole purpose of reviewing this dealer. This place is terrible, and really should be avoided at all costs. They posted a leasing deal on their website, and when we went in, they claimed it was still true. After waiting around for three and a half hours, we find out at the end that we were "denied" the lease deal for no apparent reason--we both have excellent salaries and credit. Instead, they offered us a far worse deal. Clearly, we left. All around, an entire waste of time.
Watch Out for the Misleading Salesman!. We went back to Bay Ridge Toyota to return our leased vehicle and to purchase a new vehicle from the same dealership since we had the prior relationship only be mislead by the car salesman and had to walk out of the deal after investing a whole day. Next day we went over to Plaza Toyota and got a great deal from a friendly and honest salesman for the same modeled vehicle. The salesman we dealt with at the Bay Ridge Toyota failed to disclose all the material information that impacted us financially during the structuring of the deal and mislead us. I would not recommend this dealership for a car purchase.
