Confirming the reviews below. The high reviews are over two years old with the old management. The hairstylist that are good, never stay at this salon. Just read the reviews for yourself and see all the names just within the last few months, then go to the website and you'll see none of the names match. Everyone has left!!!!
I personally knew the old owners and can confirm that this salon was once a great place to go. I don't know the new owner/owners, but I have heard a lot of bad reviews about them.
If you do go to this salon for your hair, make sure you get the name and personal phone number of your stylist because if you like them, and they are good, they won't stay long.
If you are a first time client, find a different salon.
Dear Dannykiss77, The Beehive Salon has gone through a transition a move, change in ownership three years ago, I can say that stylists come and go in all salons and many times change is good. We have a very nice comfortable salon and the majority of people enjoy their visit with us. I don't know if you have been here or just going on hearsay and if that is the case you can give the salon a call and come in for a complimentary haircut, we are friendly and look forward to being of service. Went in enthusiastic, left utterly disappointed!.
I typically go to the city to get my haircut to ensure that I don't receive a bad haircut. Since I am currently staying at home with my two kids, I needed to find a salon in Greenpoint and/or Williamsburg to get my hair cut and dyed. I went to google, typed in the area and salon and Beehive showed up with great reviews on city search. I decided to make an appointment.
TO ENSURE THAT I RECEIVED A GREAT HAIRCUT, I MADE AN APPOINTMENT WITH MELANIA, THE OWNER. I FIGURED AT LEAST THE OWNER WOULD GET THE JOB DONE. INSTEAD, I LEFT WITH THE WORST HAIRCUT I EVER RECEIVED AND A DYE JOB THAT I AM DYING WHILE WAITING FOR IT TO WASH OUT. LET ME EXPLAIN...
I am not a crazy hair girl, meaning, I don't have some bizarre haircut that I need maintained. I have layers only in the front and straight in the back (or so I did). I went into the salon, asked for a trim and specifically said no layers in the back. My hair is not that thick, so if you cut layers, it only makes my hair look paper thin. A trained hair stylist would know this and I wouldn't even have to mention it. I told Melania NOT, I repeat, NOT to cut any layers in the back. I said I wanted some nice thick layers in the front to shape my face. I also said I want the color to be a shade darker than my natural color.
When she finished, I had layers all around my head and they were started at the 4 inch mark. I had hair to the middle of my back... so the layers started short. Not only that, but the layers were not symmetrical. One side of my head was 2 inches longer than the other. It was so obvious, that my husband, who cares less about hair, noticed the minute I walked in. The dye color was okay, but the dye was left on the ends too long and now my ends are darker than my roots.
How's that for a look???
Don't go to this salon if you care at all about your hair. The reviews that are positive probably came from clients with the old owners... or they are probably written by the current owner herself.
I have since spoken to mothers at the playground about this haircut and they all told me they heard the same things about Beehive.
I hope I just saved you some trouble and disappointment. It's going to take me about 2 years to grow out these layers and I won't be able to wear my hair straight for two years.
Dear Brigette, I have to say at the Beehive we take all our client concerns very seriously and am saddened that you feel that you had a bad experience, when I spoke with you the day after and you told me you weren't completely satisfied with the haircut but happy with the color I immediately refunded your payment for the cut. As per the consultation I was aware that you did not want much taken off and I tried to keep the cut to a minimum while getting your hair back into good shape with the least amount of hair taken off. We do try and address all of our customer reviews, it was a very busy Saturday and all stations were full we do try and remove the hair as fast as possible. Thank you for your input, Melaina
The worst cut I've ever received.
I have never written a review online before but I have been so upset by my haircut that I felt like I must. I used to go to Andrea at the Beehive Salon until she moved out of town. She gave me the absolute best cuts I have ever received in my life. I have extremely straight and fine hair and she made my hair look fabulous.
I asked the receptionist for a recommendation and told her my hairtype and that I used to go to Andrea. She scheduled me with Louie. I showed him a picture of exactly what I wanted which was a simple shoulder grazing all one length bob. He acted like he could do this for me. I left the salon with the worst haircut I have ever received in my life, including the time I went to supercuts when I was thirteen. I have pieces hacked into my hair that barely graze my chin. He left me with pieces uneven in several places on both sides. He cut my bangs in layers with one piece in the center extremely short and forgot to cut the pieces on the sides. This cut is a joke. I've already had it cut again to try and fix it some. Do not go to Louie because he will not care about you or your hair. Everytime I look in the mirror I think about how much I hate my hair.
Brandi is Amazing!. Last night Brandi cut my hair and it looks great! She seemed genuinely concerned with making my hair looks great and listened to what I wanted. She also explained how to style it and suggested products without seeming pushy at all.
Amazing experience. I go to Sean and he is amazing. I just got the best haircut i've ever had. Great Shampoo and haircut for a great price. Convenient and awesome. If you just moved to BK or are looking to try a new place definitely go here!
Overall good surprise. I went to this salon first time last week, after reading the reviews, and also because it is really conveniently located, at least for me. When I made the appointment, the receptionnist was extremely rude, like I was really intruding and bothering her. Once back at home, I really considered canceling, thinking that if the rest of the staff was of the same caliber, why bother. But, I really needed a hair coloring job so of I went. Thanks to Stephanie and her thoughtful expertise, after 2 hours, I had exactly what I wanted, even though I was totally indecisive to start with. She trimmed my hair a bit, keeping in mind that I told her I was growing it. I then related to her my sad experience with the receptionnist and she apologized, even though it was not her fault at all, told me she would talk to the owner since it was not the 1st time someone complained about that person, AND did not charge me for the trim!!!! So, I am thirlled that I kept the appointment. I LOVE my color and will absolutely go back to Stephanie whot told me to lay off the bottle...of hair dye!
Good luck with timing on this place.... Had an appointment scheduled with Eileen at 6:30pm this evening. I was told she would be 15 minutes late. So I stepped out next door to get a beer and came back 15 minutes later. I waited another 30 minutes and the receptionist asked, "You aren't in a hurry are you?" I aksed how much longer it would be (she was still on the very same client), and the receptionist stated probably another 15 to 30 minutes. Making an appointment at this place is like waiting for a package from UPS or staying home all day waiting for Time Warner Cable. Decided to finally leave - have better things to do on a Friday night. Not so much as an "I am sorry" from the salon. Will not go back and would suggest that you stay away also.

Citysearch Editorial Review. A former Best of Citysearch barber and an established Brooklyn day spa have joined forces, creating a veritable megaplex of pampering. The massive space offers quick haircuts from the owner (an industry vet) and a team of tatted, retro-meets-rocker-looking staff members. Smiles and straightforward treatment are the norm, both in the nine-seat, bi-level salon and downstairs in the homey spa. There’s only one nail technician (albeit with superstar experience) and massage therapists work on an on-call basis, so appointments are preferred to walk-ins, but the treatments are topnotch, especially in this now luxury condo laden area.
Very Good and Classy, too!. I've never seen this place respond to bad reviews by berating the customer as I've seen lots of other places do, so in my book they're very smart and professional--good for you, Beehive, and I'll continue to be a customer! (and they do a really good job)
