The Scene – This spacious restaurant mixes modern sushi bar decor with bistro touches like dark wood, exposed brick and stainless steel fans. An analog clock is projected on one wall and diners can enjoy the sunshine in the wood-decked back garden. Classics like sushi, teriyaki and udon are supplemented with an extensive roll list that includes a few surprises like the Green Twister, which wraps crispy flounder in spinach. A limited Thai menu is also available.

Better Than Average, But Not Great....

by kshimmyo

I admit that I'm a little spoiled when it comes to sashimi, but I must say... there are only two things that matter to me - the freshness of the fish, and the way it's cut. That said, although the fish was reasonably fresh, the large chunks of sashimi Kotobuki serves are sub-par in my opinion. The service was friendly, but inattentive, especially considering there were only three occupied tables. If you're looking for truly exceptional, authentic sashimi, head to East 43rd St and go to Sakagura - they will ruin you for all other Japanese Restaurants.

  • Pros: friendly, comfy
  • Cons: so-so food, inattentive service

by picky_ny_foodie

sorry kotobuki, but i hate to say this..... you're just average.

you have tough competition in brooklyn as far as sushi goes (faan, osaka, shinjuki, etc.) so you might want to study up on what the others are doing right.
