Call ahead = does absolutely nothing. We did the "call ahead seating".. called at 7pm for 7 people and a baby. We were told the table would be ready at 7:45. We showed up at 7:40 and waited. 8pm rolls around and they tell us that the people at our table have already paid and will be leaving. Ten minutes later, same story. Now my 6 month old son is getting cranky. At 8:30 the Mgr comes over and offers us a free appetizer and tells us that he cannot tell the people to leave because they are paying customers. Well, how about telling them that there are other people waiting!? We were so hungry and annoyed. Whats the point of call ahead seating?? We ended up leaving. It's not fair that we had to wait so long especially since we had an infant with us.
Australian tchotchkes and brews give this quintessentially American restaurant a distinctive Down Under flavor..
In Short
Boomerangs, Aussie flags, kangaroo portraits and faux aboriginal art honor the homeland's wilderness, but Outback delivers a polished version of rusticity with varnished blond-wood booths with matching wainscoting and casually uniformed waitstaff. Besides more than a half-dozen cuts of steak, diners can pick from large-portioned entrees like ribs, chops and shrimp or chicken "on the barbie." The Bloomin' Onion, a large onion dipped in batter and deep-fried, is an appetizer with a following.
This outback is slow in service and manners. The waiters are not race friendly. They do like people who are not white. Waiters say discriminating slurs words and other sly remarks. Also the service is slow, waiters act like they don't remember my order-again (sly remarks). The food is ok but don't go thereif your not used to being discriminated. The lighting is dark and I noticed some people were sitting by a lamp that was burned out. (I heard that the restaurant is located near a KKK clubhouse. So the management might have hired too many of those KKK to work there.) The food is good, I got steak. It was ok, I could have made this at home. Since the service was slow my party got extra drinks.
Aweful and expensive.
Wow. This is one of the worst restaurants I have ever been to. The food is expensive and the flavor is terrible. We started with the tuna appetizer. It tasted like freezer burn.
I ordered a chicken dish, poor chicken looked like it was starved to death before it was cooked. The piece of chicken was so small and the portion of cornbread (their idea of corn bread) was huge. The corn bread was disgusting. The steak my boyfriend ordered was terrible. $60 down the tubes.
Even the decor is aweful. The lighting is sooo dark, it was like eating in the closet. Then they have the stupid lamps hanging over each table that hangs so low it is right in your face.
