The Scene – The front cafe--filled with plants, coffee tables, and a distressed armoire full of board games and books--offers a great place to read or chat up a stranger. During the daylight hours, neighborhood 20-somethings sans day jobs nibble on snacks, ranging from more earthy fare like bagels and hummus to sweeter options like homemade cupcakes with sprinkles. The coffee is high-test. When the sun goes down, folks head to the romantic back room, where creepy portraits decorate the red walls, and the rusty chandelier casts a haunted-house glow. – – The Draw – The…

i've seen some great [free!] shows at the lucky cat--anything from friends' college-rock type bands to breakcore djs--& although they don't have it anymore, there used to even be a weekly breakcore night on mondays. mixed drinks are reasonably priced at 6-7$ & their specialty cocktail list is extensive & contains things that actually taste good [!]. atmosphere is nice & comfortable, there are cushioned seats / tables in the front & a stage area in the back with stools at the bar & smaller tables/chairs along the wall with room to dance if there is a band or dj playing. it's never too crowded, though is sometimes a bit empty, & i've met some great people there--incredibly unpretentious given the neighborhood though of course everyone's still an Artist. highly recommended.
- Pros: good music, good drinks, unpretentious
- Cons: sometimes slow

Between its daytime guise as a quiet place to have a cup of coffee (or something stronger) and the impressive variety of its nightly shows it offers something unique to the Williamsburg scene. The scene varies wildly from night to night depending on the live acts which range from experimental jazz to electronica to london hip-hop to techno. A music lover's bar with killer drinks and a suprisingly comfortable environment.
- Pros: inexpensive, great drinks, cozy

this place has a great vibe & flips the script musically every night. this quickly became my favorite haunt. they offer djs, bands, and a juke box. they run the gamut from new wave, techno, punk, and even jazz. you can sit at the bar, or sprawl your drunken body on one of the many couches.
i feel comfortable losing myself here.
- Pros: drunky snacks!, good prices, music

What to Drink:
Palate adventurers should try the martini oddities like the Spicy Green Bean, a vodka martini with homemade hot green beans, or the Basil-Strawberry, which muddles the two for an herbal-fruit combo that would almost taste healthy if not for the booze.
Where to Sit:
Pick from the U-shaped conversation pit couches, cushy chaise lounges, or under the outdoor lean-to lined by a charming moat.

Ask for the $2 Cheap Shot, which is just what it sounds like.
