WHAT A DISAPPOINTMENT!!! CAVALE TONUZI 3rd ave, Bayridge – Where should I begin? I walked into make an appointment with Charlie. They said he was no longer there. (First signal to walk out I new he was the owner) Then they said i can have my hair cut right now. Which at first I thought was great service. OMG to make it short the wash was cold, the stylist was miserable, the cut and the style was "BEAUTY PARLOR" I had expected great things from this placed it was so highly recommended. Like I said what a disappointment it always happens ownership changes and so does the business!! I guess we have another BEAUTY PARLOR on 3rd ave.
Best Spa and Salon-- and I'm a S-N-O-B – Had reservations at first because but they were quickly quelled the first moment I walked in.
The experience starts with valet, being warmly greeted, having my coat put into a secure coat check area, and an offer of a beverage. This is all before I even had a service, so I was feeling pampered already. The salon has an elegant, minimal, clean, feng shui vibe--lots of light and white. I felt like my winter SAD was lifting.
Downstairs, theTantra Spa is cozy, warm, and delicious. Completely candle-lit. Great aromatherapy in the air. Couches, pillows, fresh cold water with lemon slices, good glasses to drink it from, a ridiculously thick robe, and great slippers that sort of massage your feet.
The facial with Irina J was the best I ever had. Two reasons. She is a pro-- very knowledgeable about my dry skin--and she was committed to my being satisfied. My skin looked glowy when I was done.
The blowout and gloss with Lisa F was outstanding. (I am a snob--remember? Frederick Fekkai and Julien Farel used to be my hairdressers of choice.)
When I returned, Lisa was booked so I tried Russell for color and cut. He was meticulous about covering my grey roots and took his time blowing out my curly, coarse hair into smooth waves. He didn't cut corners. No quickie blowout here. He treated me as though I was going to be in a photo shoot. I think that?s how you want to feel about your stylist?s commitment to your hair if you're dishing out money for a blowout.
I know this sounds deliriously over the top. But, for me, it's been like finding nirvana in my own Bay Ridge backyard and I couldn't be happier.
Best hair in town – oh my god can i tell you i had my cut and color done at cavale I used them for the first time last week and i want to say i am impressed my hair has not looked this great in a long time thank you thank you thank you they all seemed so friendly I expected to walk into a very snooty place but not so these people let me feel like a was part of the family they listened to me made me comfortable I was nervous going in but 2 minutes in i felt at home again thank you so much for making me feel and look beautiful I really needed it "Hats Off" to the staff
Great Escape!!!! – Wow This place has come a long way, I was in there last week and I heard its under new management. I am a long time customer and it was always a good establishment but now its being run like a professional business with the customers needs in mind.
Before I got in the door a commentary valet took my car. When I entered, I was greeted pleasantly and my coat was taken also compliments of the salon. The front desk checked me in and let me know my stylist Jeanie was running on time and offered me, yes, complimentary hot chocolate, tea or cappuccino.
I had a shampoo and scalp massage that put me in a great mood. Jeanie made me look like a new woman, with a touch up and blowout and her prices are great and she also has done fantastic up hair for me when I had an event. Manicures with Angela are awesome. I've been told, quote from management there are many more exciting changes going forward.
On Sundays and Tuesdays they have a "Live Well Spend Smart" promotion, you can get a blowout from their talented staff with aveda products for $20 or bring a friend and get 2 blowout for $35. Now this is an amazing place! The best in Brooklyn.
Best Head wash in NYC – from the moment you enter...It's heaven, pretty girls lots to look at,but more importantly great service,we were there for christmas eve,and were treated like royalty, the staff was friendly my friend had a superb relaxing shampoo from christian,an assistant i had a kicking new haircut from Mindy,i looked better than POSHE,Mindy took superb care of me,did not stop her time with me,or walked away to talk on her cell like the stylists did at Pilo ,mindy listened to the concerns i had about my thinning hair, and took her time with me,she cut it the way i asked, recommended i treat it delicately when i wash and comb, and gave me renewed confidence,i dont know what is in her fingers, but i swear my hair is alive again, both my friend and i were thrilled,it is worth the money,i highly recommend to anyone who cannot travel to Nyc every time they want to look great,we need Cavale to stay in brooklyn for us girls.
Cavale Tonuzi still rocks! – what's up brooklyn?i had my hair done at cavale on saturday 1/10/09 and i must tell you,i am hot ,gorgeous, and very happy i have been going here for 2 years, and although stylists will come and go,if you find one or two that are great and still there the place will survive,in this business you have tons of young assistants that are immature, pissed that they are still sweeping instead of cutting, and will spread nonsenset and gossip,i ignore all that and focus on what i am there for,to find someone that will make my hair look great,up to date,i have only used two people here,Mindy and sometimes Robert, they are both great and mindy is FABULOUS! as long as these two are still here i will come and spend my$$$.let every one else talk all the trash they want as long as i leave looking hot, thats all i remember, they earn every $$$tip i give them, and more CAVALE TONUZI is still great, dont believe everything you hear, believe how your'e hair comes out......hot mama!
Cavale is still the best! – Good day!,like every salon and establishment it takes research,Cavale is the best and only hip place left to go ,in Brooklyn,if you need great color and precision cut ask for MINDY,she does not talk about the other staff, she keeps her personal issues at home and makes you feel great, she has been there forever, and knows her stuff, her task for the day is to make you look and feel beautiful, what else do we want?if you need to shop around and search for a better place go ahead then come back to cavale and Mindy will correct what the other places screwed up,like she did to me,thanks Mindy i will follow you forever!
Sadly dissappointed................ – I've been a customer at Cavale for many years now. I recently went there, and I found out that that the two main owners Charlie, & Violet are now gone. Apparently they left the buisness. So, my advice to all of you Cavale customers is to beware!!! Things weren't the same in there anymore. The vibe was very bad, the staff looked miserable, and the over all energy of the place had changed. I felt very uncomfortable. As a local salon goer, I advise all of you not to stop in Cavale anymore. There are alot of other salons in Bayridge that are also great! Don't be afraid to give another salon on 3rd ave a try! I did!
A facial with Irina Is Amazing! – I went to Irina for a facial and have never had someone take the time to really listen to my skin concerns before. She not only listened and treated my acne prone skin for the exact issues i came in for but she educated me on practices i could do at home and gave certain dietary suggestions that she felt would improve my skin. I cant believe how much my skin has improved- its about time a wonderful spa experience actually produces a lasting result- Irina is amazing! Not only was she great with my skin but my mom saw her for a facial before me and has a very different skin type and came out looking rejuvenated and beautiful. Irina really knows her stuff and really wants you to learn how to best care for your own skin!
an all day disaster ! – During the summer, the colorist i had used before was on vacation. Russell was highly recommended, why? i do not know. I should have gone with my instincts but I thought i was in a "high end" salon. From the minute he started I knew something was wrong. I wanted a coppery highlight on my natural dark hair. Seemed simple, i've had it done before. He kept asking very busy stylists their opinions of what he should do. I dont think he took them up on it because after 3 hours i ended up with pink highlights, 1 hour after that the pink highlights were gone, but now i had orange roots , darker ends. 1 hour after that my hair was a Very dark brown, somewhat like what i came in with . After over 5 hours, i did not get what i wanted. Russell could not do the job, fix it, and styled my hair rather ordinary. He might have good looks, but his personality and talent will get him nowhere. The manager was very apologetic and did do the right thing by not charging me. The salon was quite nice, and there seemed to be very good stylists working on other clients, but i wasnt as lucky. Russell should find another occupation because he stinks as a stylist. Shame on the owners for trusting him to do hair! I'm still trying to correct the mess on my head. gee wizz
