La Maison Du Couscous

From the time the seafaring Phoenicians established trading posts in North Africa 3,000 years ago, Morocco has been the crossroad where cultural and ethnic influences from all over the world come together. The result is a Morocco cuisine that reflects the impact of Middle Eastern, Asian, French, and other outside explorers and conquerors, as well as the indigenous Berber people. A rich collection of herbs graces the Moroccan kitchen. Mint, parsley, green coriander, marjoram, and basil are added to the meats and vegetables to highlight and enrich flavors. Out beautiful authentic Moroccan atmosphere will make you feel like you are in Morocco enjoying our delicious Moroccan food. Our friendly staff will help you with all of your needs including Catering, Corporate events and private parties. We have excellent reviews from NY Magazine, Village Voice and Time Out NY. We cant wait to see you

First, I wanted to go to a restaurant where i could just relax. Not the best place to go! the owner there is so crazy and talks so much. He talks and talks and talks you can't even get a word in to tell him to F*ck Off! You can't even enjoy the food without him talking and talking about himself, restaurant, food, etc. The food was mediocre for the price i paid and to add to the fact, i couldn't even relax and have time to myself. Worst place ever! Neurotic owner and expenisve food ! i rather eat cheap mediocre food and not have a crazy person hovering over me every minute.

I've been looking for good couscous since I first fell in love with it in France. And now I've found it here in my own neighborhood. Support your local restauranteurs! It's affordable and excellent!

I live in the neighborhood and have been here half a dozen times, even delivery once or twice. The food is really incredible. I love the hummus and the vegetable cigar appetizers. I always get the Maison CousCous vegetarian because I love it. But my boyfriend, and our friends have tried other entrees and tagines and no one has been disappointed yet. I have never gotten around to dessert because we have always been too full by that time, but the sweet mint tea is perfect after a filling meal. The service is interesting to say the least. Sometimes overly chatty, sometimes a little pushy but always competent. One time he was pushing a wine on us that we clearly didn't want when we had brought our own (the restaurant was originally BYOB). Another time my friend had been very clear about preferring chicken and got lamb instead. I think this was intentional because the waiter seemed to be pushing the lamb. I would have sent it back, but my friend didn't and he did enjoy it. The atmosphere is nice, cozy and authentic feeling. It's a small place, and it is decorated simply but nicely. Overall I highly reccomend checking this place out, it's worth the trip to BayRidge!
