The Scene – The cozy, brightly lit dining room is adorned with photos of Italy and dominated by a large, brick pizza oven. The Neapolitan owners who run the place exude friendliness, and attract a neighborhood clientele, mostly in couples and small groups. – – The Food – The restaurant offers a selection of pastas and other entrees but the pizza is top-notch, with an old-school crust that's thin but not brittle. Pies are divided into two categories: "Classiche" includes Margherita, quatro stagioni and other perennial favorites; while "Fantasie" includes smoked salmon,…
My favorite place,
by JLively
I never really post anything on these things, but had to write after reading some of these reviews. Caserta Vecchia is by far one of the best places to eat that i know of in Brooklyn, (and i have lived here for over 15 years). The food is great and the staff is by far some of the most attentive and friendly people around. I've been going there since it opened and have become friendly with the staff and owners, who are wonderful people. My favorites dishes are the Arriabata pizza and the Grilled Calamari Salad, but I also love their pastas. I think i may have tried them all :) Sangria is good too. I highly recommended this place. That's my 2 cents.
- Pros: Food and service
- Cons: weak air condiditoning :)
Amazing Pasta!!!

Not too long ago I was steered to this place by a friend from the area and I have to say it was hands down the BEST pasta I have had in a Long, Long time. The service was good, they were prompt and there was not much of a wait for the food.
I had an AMAZING dish, with fresh homemade tortellini, a cream sauce, peas and prosciutto.
I have recommended this place to people and will continue to do so.
- Cons: A bit small so space is limited.

The place seemed promising visually with the decor and the patrons which you gave you that authentic ambiance. To start it off our waitress was not tentative since we had to wait a good 15-20 minutes to catch a employee's attention so that we can even order. That should have been a sign for us to go elsewhere. Our bottle of wine was WARM!? The mussels had no flavor with the exception of tasting fishy! After waiting another good 30 minutes we had to ask a staff member where our main dishes were, it was like they forgot that they had people waiting for food! I ordered the pizza which tasted like watered down tomato sauce and the rest of the food was below average. My advice: your going to have a better meal at home with Chef Boyardee, a pie from the local pizzeria, and a bottle of chianti from your local liquor store (at least it won't be warm!).....
