“had 3 hours of some of the most enjoyable treatments I've ever had, not to mention lots of wonderful conversation with a very personable yet professional staff.”
THE WORST & MOST UNCOMFORTABLE EXPERIENCE EVER!!. I WENT TO THIS DOWNTIME SPA TO GET A BRAZILIAN, UNDER ARM WAX & FACIAL W/ VINDY BUT SHE HAD TO GO SO SHE WAS ONLY ABLE TO DO THE BRAZILIAN, AFTERWARDS I WANTED TO TIP HER BUT DIDNT HAV ANY CHANGE SO I GAVE HER A $20 BILL AND TOLD HER THIS IS FOR TODAY AND TOMORROW SHE LOOKED AT ME LIKE I WAS CRAZY AND SAID FOR TODAY AND TOMORROW, I COULDNT BELIEVE MY EARS, THE NEXT DAY I WENT BACK (ONLY BECAUSE I HAD A GIFT CARD), THE MINUTE I GOT INTO THE ROOM FOR THE FACIAL SHE KEPT STRESSING HOW SHE ONLY GETS PAID BY TIPS AND HOW SHE CAME FROM MANHATTAN THE PEOPLE WILL TIP SO MUCH BETTER, HOW HER LAST CUSTOMER GAVE HER A $20 TIP FOR A MANICURE AND SHE KEPT ON AND ON, I JUST HAD TO LAUGH I COULDNT BELIEVE IT, WHEN SHE WAS DONE WITH THE FACIAL I GAVE HER $10 MORE BECAUSE SHE MADE ME FEEL SO UNCOMFORTABLY AND LIKE VIOLATED, THEN TO TOP IT OFF WHEN I WENT UPSTAIRS TO PAY WITH MY GIFT CARD THE YOUNG LADY @ THE FRONT DESK TELLS ME OK UR DONE BUT DONT FORGET TO TIP VINDY LIKE R U SERIOUS, I KNOW I TIPPED HER WELL GAVE HER $30 TIP FOR A $100 VALUE AND SHE STILL WASNT HAPPY!! FOR THE MOST PART I MUST ADMIT OUT OF THE FEW TIMES IVE BEEN THERE VINDY HAS DONE A GREAT JOB BUT I WILL NEVER GO BACK THERE AGAIN AND AFTER SHARING THE EXPERIENCE WITH MY HUSBAND HE SAYS HE WILL NEVER GET ME A GIFT CARD FROM THEM!!
Friendly and Caring. Amazing Experience!. I have been coming to Vindy for facials for a few years now. She is gentle and I leave with a glowing, beautiful complexion. She is also really great for brazilians, very quick and pain free. I would recommend her to anyone!
Friendly Staff, Excellent Atmosphere, Perfect Cut/Color!. Had an excellent experience at this spa getting my hair cut (and it's almost impossible to get my hair right!) and highlighting. I'm not so good at color selection and followed the advice of the stylist, and they turned out exactly like I was hoping they would. Really enjoyed the experience and the staff, the room was vibrant and well decorated... will definitely return and try out some more of their services!
John Gabriel Doesn't Work Here Anymore. If you are looking for John, you can find him in the East Village at 508 E 12th Street or call him at 212-375-1818.
Enjoyed every minute!. I recently went to DownTime for their signature "Day at DownTime" service. I had 3 hours of some of the most enjoyable treatments I've ever had, not to mention lots of wonderful conversation with a very personable yet professional staff. I saw the negative comment on here and was very surprised, but then noticed it is 2 years old! Give this place a try, it's definitely worth it!!!
best spa in willyb. ive been coming to this spa for 3 yrs & recommend it to anyone looking for professionalism & talent! great atmosphere, great employees & great service!
Spa Daze. I am a frequent client of this spa. I've had manicures, pedicures, hair cuts and full back waxes. I find the staff to be professional, courteous and helpful. They offer many services, and I would recommend this spa to anyone in the area. My wife particularly enjoys the air brush services, where they actually match a color to your skin tone and give you a natural glowing type tan.
Not inexpensive and not Manhattan standards. I went for two services. The pedicure was good, but the cobwebs in the corners of the room were distracting. Tthe other employees talked a lot and loudly. The massage was far less impressive. The massuesse talked during service, the cd was loud and skipped and there was much background noise from the salon. She left the room twice. There was no real rythm to the massage and I left feeling like I overpaid by a large margin.
Upper East Side opulence across the East River in Williamsburg..
The Scene
Since Bedford Avenue became home to two pricey optical shops, it was only a matter of time that a high-end spa and salon would move in nearby. Williamsburg residents accustomed to the occasional Victorian lounge couch or decorative sconce may find DownTime's ornate furnishings ironic, whether or not that's the intention. The spa's cool airiness and backyard garden lend it an assuredly pampered feel.
The Services
In addition to cuts, color and mani-pedis, the space offers a full range of spa services, including holistic and hot-stone massages, reflexology, acupressure facials, sea scrubs and body wraps; it's even equipped with a Vichy shower to rinse you off. The engaged massage therapist gives a deep, relaxing massage, encouraging you to let her know your pressure preference. DownTime's scalp massage is a unique, stimulating treatment--though its quick upward strokes don't feel quite as luxuriant as a salon shampoo.
