Is the Food worth the hassle?. My boyfriend and I have gone back many times. The french onion soup is great as are the scallops. The crepes arent bad. Prices match the food quality and creativeness. The live music and or skipping cd's arent to my liking. It trys too hard to be trendy. The brunch on weekends is nice, particularly the french toast and crab and cheese omlette. It would have been a wonderful experience , except the service isnt very tentative. Ive waited a half hour for water and got asked every 5 minutes if i wanted a refill on coffee, yet was lacking a mug. I once watched a woman breast feed while her 11 person family watched and dined. It is quite annoying to be interrupted by screaming whining children that must be spoiled by their yuppie mommy and daddys to have them quited.Bottom line, if you are just going for the food, then you will be satisfied , but do not look for more, you will not recieve it here.…
Insect in Salad, Plastic in Glass.
I went there with my friends. Yes it was 2 for 1 entree. Big mistake, I should say.
First, we found a piece of plastic in a glass (the waitress didn't even say "sorry"). Then, we found an INSECT in SALAD. What did waitress say? "Oh, you didn't want it?". Poor joke...for poor food. Now I understand why the restaurant is so dark... so, open your eyes if you don't want to eat something other than you ordered.
About food? Believe me, you can do better (I'm French).…
Food isn't bad if you can avoid the kids. Do you enjoy paying $75 per person, in cash, to eat while yuppie dad roots around under your table for his shrieking 3 year old?s Tonka truck? If you do, run, don?t walk, to this place. They love kids here.…
good, not great. I wrote a glowing review for Cocotte after restaurant week, and felt I needed to come back and temper my enthusiasm a bit. I have been back two times since then. The out-of-this-world bouillibaise they served during restaurant week was, unfortunately, a different version of dish they usually serve. The usual variety is just that: usual. It's fine, but really not anything to write home about. I took my parents here especially for that dish and was bummed to get a different (and much less tasty version). In general, the food is pretty good, but not spectacular. Since the prices are pretty reasonable and they run all kinds of special price deals, maybe it's a matter of getting what you pay for. The service is very uneven and it totally depends who is your server: some are perfectly competent and some are perfectly clueless and inexperienced. If you're not in a big hurry, you should be fine. I will go back, but next time with lowered expectations.…
Great for Two More Fun for a Group.
My first visit to Cocotte was a cozy dinner with my girlfriend.
LOVED IT. We met the chef and I was eager to tell him that I enjoyed my meal and would return.
Return I did, only this time we came as a group of ten.
We took up positions at the bar in the rear of the restaurant while we waited for everyone to arrive.
Everyone enjoyed all courses. I had the Seared Scallops - my new favorite- but tasted a few of the other choices on the menu. I was more than pleased with each dish.
The staff attended to us with affection, taking great care to ensure a pleasant evening, without interrupting our tables.
We finished off the night at SOB's for some Brazilian music and dancing !!
What a Great night !!
Worth the drive from Jersey !!
