“The decor is blah: cheap furniture and poor lighting.”
“What you can expect at Sweet Ups is mean, condescending attitude and watery, overpriced drinks.”
“last summer there were bbq's in the back yard, I hope they do that again because there is nothing better than a grilled hot dog washed down with an ice cold Bramble!”
“All in all, recommended as a good place to chill out with a beer, but not necessarily the place to go if you're looking for elaborate drinks.”
“people won't come back when the service sucks.”
“like the vibe -- dark interior, friendly bartenders, comfy booths.”

Hipster swank. I'm not always in the mood for Sweet Ups, but when I am it hits the spot quite nicely. The atmosphere is their strongest attribute. Nice decor and lighting lead to excellent moods. The beer selection isn't always exactly what I'd like, though.
the service is fine. I'll agree with the previous reviewer that the drinks are a little on the watery side; but I've never had a problem with the service there.
Warmth and glamour, nicely shaken.. Perpetually dim lighting, glossy bar stools and banquettes popping against the deep-red velvet-flocked walls, lend a cleanly retro look with an of-the-moment polish. Casually sexy, the Williamsburg bar is a natural for the couples and groups who have become regulars. Decorative photos of the parents of people who helped open the bar (taken in their 20s and 30s), add a witty, soulful touch. Owner Benjamin Shih has built a loyal following as a neighborhood bartender, and his flavorful drinks are part of the reason why. Cocktails such as the pomegranate margarita and berry-flavored gin Bramble, topped with raspberries and other seasonal garnishes, win fans.
yet another with bad staff.
yet another bar with bad staff. get it together bar owners. people won't come back when the service sucks. this place is a perfect example. it's a really cool place. seriously. custom taps with pin up girls carved into them & everything. table booths, full bar, cool wall paper. BUT!
i'll stick my head in before i return. the bartender turned me off. he had cash register eyes. all he cared about were the sales. groups of serious drinkers that tip well don't want watery shots as a buy back. we want our drink of choice.
maybe the buy back is rare these days, but it's how you'll keep a good spending & drinking regular crowd.
