My best stylist and colorist ever! – I just love what she did with my hair, I brought a pic of of a straight style that I love, my hair is medium wavy and super thick and dark and long, I wanted to go much lighter.
first, she gave me 4 options - nobody has ever done that for me! I explained that I really want those really straight heavy bangs, but I am very low- maintenance (it takes me almost 2 hours to blowdry my own hair straight). so we narrowed it down to thermal reconditioning the top and front , three color highlights, thinning , and textured layers, my hair has never looked better.
This is my third time there, and I am amazed at how long I can go. In the past I would feel I need to go every 6-8 weeks. Now its like 12-14 weeks and even then I could probably go a few weeks more. her color technique is quite amazing as well, I've been coloring and getting highlighted since junior high! and my hair never feels dry, it feels strangely - better! than with out color!
And so very much cheaper than where I used to go. the special is great - only 120 bucks!
I was under the impression that she specialized in long hair, but my girlfriend came with me the last time, and got the cutest asymmetrical choppy bob, we will make it our thing to do, - lily, dumont brunch, beacon's... fun!
ps- the music is amazing and eclectic.
inside tip- if you can get in on a weekday before 5 or on sunday, its great and relaxed. Saturdays are hectic.
I'll just cry if she leaves New York...
Trendy, scary tactics, bad blowdry – Here's the thing about Lily.. the first time you go, you get freaked out by the way she cuts hair. NO MEASURE, NO Even-ing out. She slashes her shears haphazardly through your hair, very unconventional. But, at the end, the haircut looks GREAT! If you go to another stylist afterwards though, they will always comments "Who cut your hair? What a disaster!" becuase no two ends are even. Recommend her for TRENDY hair! One thing though, for thick curly hair gals, she doesnt blowdry hair well. She doesnt section it and smooth it out, she just drys it in a big bunch and it looks frizzy with bad ends. My review is very mixed... the cuts look good in alotof way, but its kinda scary and do plainly to chance.
I wouldn't reccomend... – Very sweet woman, but overall was a strange experience, and I don't ever think I would go back. I felt rushed- the whole cut only lasted about ten minutes. Maybe is better if you are going for color.
I LOVE my Bangs!!! – Lily is the sweetest person. Very easy to have conversation with. I went into her salon with hair that was all one length. I wanted bangs that I could wear either straight down or to the side. She did exactly what I saw in magazine picture that I explained to her. I NEVER had someone cut my hair the exact way I wanted it!!! It looks absolutely great!! I am so happy that I found her!!!
best cut i've ever had! – Cutest little salon in the burg a few of my freinds go to, I just love lily and missoni! I needed the works right away, I was attending a wedding the next day . I got hilites , she took my medium brown boring hair and used 3 dfferent shades of blond , and cut some layers in, poof! magic! I am a blond hottie! lily shaped and lightened ny eyebrows a bit, which I was kind of afraid to do, but she was so right on! Missoni gave me a complimentary manicure that lasted 8 days. will definitely be back, with a posse!
I luvvv my new color and style! – I got a brand new me!! the works.. I was waiting it out to grow out a haircut, and another customer in there was getting extensions done, so naturally I had to inquire! I came with the intentions of getting the cut/color special, but ended up getting extensions too! it has changed my life! I look HOT! I have Beyonce layers! yippee!! all under 3 hours! I will be back.
Ruined My Hair! – Lily was friendly and fun, but she gave me an awful haircut! I knew what I had wanted from previous cuts with other stylists, and I gave her pretty detailed instructions. Unfortunately, she did none of what I requested. She left me with so many short, uneven pieces in strange places that it is going to take a year to grow back into a presentable short haircut. I told her that I needed to look professional for an interview, but I look more like a punk teenager.
good haircut in a crazy way...and one more thing – Well, I really like my cut... but my hair is a little uneven. Because it's wavy/curly one cannot tell but I know where it's longer or shorter than it should be. Lily doesn't measure so if you are a perfectionist - don't go. Now, here's the odd thing. I've never known - does one tip the owners? I never used to. Well, when I was paying and handed over my cash, the nice lady who works with Lily asked me if I wanted change back. It caught me very off guard and I asked if people left a tip when the owner herself took care of you. And she said "absolutely" - so I'm stumped. Have I always been wrong ?
calling all frogs... – i've had every haircut from a bowl my dad used to put on my head to the middle class vidal sasoon salons to the elite salon of sally hershberger ~ lilypad has become my favorite and only salon i go to for almost the last 2 years. whether you want the tres-chic or an 80's hair faux-paux - Lily gives you exactly what you ask for. she's got a great eye to know what's going to work for your face and keeps her customs entertained with her funny stories and outgoing personality. Lily's got an incrediblly flexible schedule (including Sundays) and does an awesome job that even starving artists can afford!!
Best hair cut & even color – I moved to Williamsburg about a year ago and I work out of my apartment. So I kind of got lazy about going into the city. So I decided that I should find a hair salon in the neighborhood. I didn't know many people in the neighborhood at the time so I decided that the next time I was at my favorite coffee shop I would ask the person who had the best hair cut & color to recommend me to their stylist. I found that person after scoping the place for about twenty minutes. The woman I choose had beautiful chestnut hair with great high lights & her hair cut was even better with nice soft layers. She told me that she goes to Lilypad to get her hair cut & colored. She also said the price was reasonable & Lily was very nice and funny. I thought "bingo" The following week I made my first appointment to the Lilypad. I wasn't sure what I wanted but Lily said she would suggest some styles for me once we met(which always makes a girl nervous). When I arrived at Lilypad, Lily greeted me with a friendly smile. She suggested a few cuts that she thought would work for me. I told her that I wanted to do something about my drab brown hair & she suggested that I should darken my hair and add highlights. Even though I was nervous, I gave her the green light to cut and color my hair. During my transformation Lily & I became fast friends. She is funny & has alot of great New York stories. I have never had this kind of relationship with any of my previous my hair stylist (especially after 30 minutes of meeting them). Once my hair was done I looked in the mirror & couldn't believe how amazing the cut & color turned out. And I had a great time too. Lily has been my stylist for a year now & I'm very happy with the way she styles & color my hair. And by the way I love the compliments that I get. So if you're looking for a great cut, color, & a good time, I highly recommend the Lilypad.
