What People Are Saying About New York Sports Clubs

In Short – With expansion into the outer boroughs, Newark and Long Island, NYSC's locations have become so ubiquitous that New Yorkers are likely to have a location near work or home, if not both. This emphasis on convenience extends to its signature circuit training program, the 22-minute Xpressline--not to mention the range of equipment, from Cybex and Icarian machines to Hammer Strength free weights. Other offerings include classes that focus on core-strengthening, flexibility and kickboxing.
Great Gym

This is a great gym to join if you just moved to the area. People are friendly, clean and they have tons of classes you can take.
If you think the Manhattan clubs are awful, wait until you get to their Brooklyn facilities!

One thing you can say about New York Sports Clubs is that they are consistent. You can find them all over the city, but multiple locations is the downfall of this health club. NYSC is all about quantity at the expense of quality.
Their Brooklyn facilities are extremely poorly cleaned and rarely serviced. Don't even think of taking a Spinning class at any of their three Brooklyn locations. If you do so, be prepared to play musical bikes before you find one that is operational. If you decide you like a particular instructor, do not get too attached, as they will not be there that long. It happens that even though NYSC was raising its monthly fees, they happened to pay their instructors the lowest in the area.
If you are lucky enough to use their Cobble Hill location, you can save time going to the locker room, by grabbing a bar of soap and showering under the leaking outside the spinning room. that has not been taken care of in over a year.
Don't bother putting of any of your clothing on the Spinning room, as the floor is mopped out every six weeks or so.
NYSC is the filthiest health club I have ever had the misfortune of being a member of. You would be better served spending you money elsewhere.
- Pros: numerous loactions, close to transportation
- Cons: absolutely filthy, porrly services, over priced,. porrly paid instructors effects the quality of same, unsafe enviromnent
confusing

I've been to many of the other locations in town and this one is the most confusing. I don't understand why they put the machines where they did. Oh well, still convenient.
