“Best Mexican in Slope -- ignore the decor, it's great!”
“the encaladas are awful though, and one of the sauces (its a chocolate based sauced) tasted like either it had been burnt or sitting in the pot for the entire day.”
“The guacamole is great and the drinks are fantastic.”
“Great lunch specials, a friendly staff, and homemade hot sauce keep the joint popping with (well-fed) street shoppers.”

“Everything we ordered was amazing---I can't wait to go back.”
“The service is very friendly.”
“Finally, awesome Mexican food at reasonable prices.”
“If you like enchiladas, tacos, tostadas, chicken mole, etc., Los Pollitos is the jackpot at the end of the long rainbow that is the search for Mexican food in NY.”
Decent (not great) Food, Service Generally Poor.
Because of varying tastes and experience with Mexican restaurants and food, reviews for Mexican places are notoriously diverse. Los Pollitos has decent food that leans toward "authentic." Assuming it's a good day at Los Pollitos and you're used to the "swamp muck" variety of Mexican food, which is the only type many Americans know, you'll probably really like it. If they are having a bad day and you're used to Bonita and the taco places in Sunset Park and Jackson Heights, you'll be disappointed. As I've implied, Los Pollitos has it's good and bad days, although the service is usually poor. I like the tacos, which are usually good and reasonably priced and I usually have them delivered (rarely a hitch with delivery) or pick up there, which can be a hassle because the staff is very poorly trained and shouldn't be in the customer service business. What's kept me from ordering lately is their health rating, which you can find online at nyc.gov.
Bottom line: Don't expect too much in either food or service.
nice mexican place. i went with my family on a sunday afternoon we had the brunch the chory juevos are awesome. i had there chicken before but i never sat down and ate.my girlfriend had some nachos with beef those r good two. the margaritas are prettty good i shouldnt be having them on a sunday but i had to try 1. i tasted some of the sangria its good to nothing to special but its not bad. fresh squeezed oj now dat a twist compared to tropicana i be having all the time. over all its good service is good food is a nice mexican flavor but i read the special dinner menu and it looks great i have to try it on a friday night to see if its as good as it seems but overall i liked it all my family enjoyed all there meals must go back
Horrible!. I also read a few good reviews of this place and wanted to try it. It was a HUGE disappointment. The food is just not good. Not to mention, one of our glasses of water had a dead fly floating in it. The salsa really does taste like it came out of a can, and the tortilla chips were stale. We both ordered the chicken - it had absolutely no flavor to it. I try to have a positive outlook, but I just can't muster up any enthusiasm for this place. How disappointing. I will not be visiting again. Ever. Please go somewhere else...
What a let down. Had read a few good reviews of this place and was really looking forward to eating here. What a disappointment. My margarita was weak and tasteless. The tortilla chips tasted like cardboard and the salsa like it came out of a can. The unspectacular appetizers were actually brought after the main courses were already on the table. The seafood dish I had contained exactly one shrimp. The rest was comprised of leathery monkfish and calamari that seemed like it was fried, then fried again, then heated in a microwave. The heavy sopping oil taste actually turned my stomach. How this place got its reputation is beyond me. Horrible.
This is a chain???. Watery drinks, bad food, OK service. When I learned this was a chain, I laughed in disbelief. I've been twice, maybe I'm ordering the wrong things, but I cannot for the life of me understand how they manage to stay in business!
Excellent MEXICAN FOOD At Inexpensive Prices!.
Now I know food! And Mexican Food is a favorite of mine, hence I've dined in many restaurants in the NYC area. And I Must say that this place is one of my favorites. The Food is great (or at least the super tacos are) and the guacamole and chips are awesome!
They serve one of the best tasting Caramel Flans that I've ever had.
Service is Good, Not Great...But Friendly.
Selection is Ok...And Decor is not aesthetically pleasing, but typical for a mexican spot.
Best Mexican in Slope -- ignore the decor, it's great!!. When you first glance at Los Pollitos, you'd think it would be a greasy Mexican place full of tasteless food and gigantic magaritas - not the case. The food is incredibly fresh, they have a great tequila list, and the drinks are marvelous. Best of all, the food delicately flavored, fresh, and they make the guacamole right at your table. A suggestion: the inside of the restaurant leaves a lot to be desired, so either order take-out or sit outside at one of their lovely tables on the sidewalk. The chips and salsa are wonderful, and my fave dish is the Camarones Criollos. Best of all it's very affordable.
This place is awesome!.
Just happened to stumble onto Los Pollitos II one night and will definitely make the trip from Williamsburg in the future just to eat here. They were very busy when my friends and I wandered by and we wondered whether we'd even get a table that night but we only had to wait five minutes. The waitstaff was incredibly friendly and attentive. We were brought extra salsa and chips at no charge while we waited for our food and drank our margaritas. The food was delicious, the portions were generous, and it came quite quickly. These people know how to run a restaurant.
Also, there is a large selection for vegetarians and the portions of these dishes were not diminished by the lack of meat.
I can't say enough good things about this place. Go check it out!
Yummy chips & salsa. The chips and salsa that came w/ it were really good! My meal was also delicious- great prices, Margaritas were pricey, but didn't have much alcohol in them.
First Time At Los Pollittos II. I was there on Cinco de Mayo, the place was so crowded, but they were still able to accommodate everyone. Everyone seemed happy. The atmosphere was nice, the weather was beautiful so we sat outside. The food was delicious, I had the chicken breast in lime sauce, excellent choice, especially if you like garlic. The Margaritas were tasty, I perfer the ones on the rocks. I will definetely return to Los Pollittos II.
