Mid-century furniture and kitsch, minus the Manhattan prices.. The Scene
A mod paradise, chock-full of colorful items from the '50s and '60s. The owners search far and wide to bring Eames, Saarinen, Knoll and McCoy to their loyal customers, but even when they can't find them, Astro Turf will dig up some of the countless copycat items available.

The Goods
We've seen a weathered Eames lounge chair sell for $495--a total steal. Also spotted: a royal blue Knoll office chair going for $65 and a yellow leather "Brady Bunch"-style (think Mr. Brady's office) sectional couch running around $450. It can't hurt to stroll by, as uber-cheap sale items are always on display outside. And unlike some of its neighborhood brethren, this store will usually negotiate on a price.

Kitschy retro knick-knacks and furniture. A better-than-most-selection of 20th-century ephemera, and a few choice pieces of modern furniture (which also tends towards kitsch rather than timelessness). The store is well-tended and mercifully uncluttered, which makes for easy browsing. The salespeople are very friendly.
