Not my favorite place...but no reason to bash Brooklyn. Hi,

I'm a girl who was born and bred in brooklyn and I take great offense to the previous reviewers comments. I agree that Areo is a sub-par, overpriced, scene-y restaurant filled with obnoxious, overdressed people. HOWEVER, it does not reflect brooklyn or even bay ridge as a whole.

Not Recommended. This place often gets such excellent reviews that I had to tell my story. Some friends and I went to Areo's for one's birthday. We waited on line for over an hour. When we were finally seated, the waited brought over a pitcher of water with an insect suspended inside one of the ice cubes. When we complained, the waiter brought out the SAME PITCHER (he admitted) he had emptied and refilled. When we continued to complain, they offered us nothing. In fact the waiter commented on the size of the line outside and said we could leave. I would NEVER go back there again! I don't know how the food is, I never got past the water!

greatest Veal Marsala anywhere. I don't know what the reviewer before me is talking about. I go to areos often, especially for lunch during the weekdays just just for a quick meal. The best dish there is probably their veal marsala, which is tender and light with excellent flavor. The service is top notch, and they bring many things at the beginning as soon as you sit down so it doesn't feel like you are waiting. The bar is excellent with good bartenders who know how to make a drink. great stuff, 5 stars.

Horrible after many great years. I've been eating at Areo for at least 15 to 20 years. Along the way I've closed the place for a family party. The place was extraordinary. I will never forget one evening I had fresh sardines. Anyway, those days are gone.

I was there last night. The same crowd is still there (the Sopranos). I ordered a tricolore. Incredibly, it appeared as a mound on a full size plate with about half of it consisting of chunks of endive. Where was the arugala? Obviously somewhere else.

The entree I ordered certainly read well: duck in grappa with dried cherries. Here's what came: one huge brown mound -- the whole plate a brown mound, OK? -- consisting of perfectly matching brown duck, brown gravy, mounds of unidentifiable brown stuff, sitting on mashed potatoes. The duck was overcooked. It all tasted identical. Like cardboard. To seek escape from this Italian horror, I ordered key lime pie. A nice slice of pie might be just the thing. Wrong. I got a key lime TART. With 4 squirts of whipped cream around it on the plate.

Mmmm.

UNDISPUTED CHAMP OF BAY RIDGE.... I have been a Brooklyn guy my whole life..Take it from me, no other Bay Ridge eatery compares to Areo in terms of the all around experience..If your looking for a chic SOHO type joint in Broooklyn, look no further. The food is AWESOME..has been for 15 years. The place is a massive hangout, and a regular hotspot for large groups of "beautiful" people, dressed to impress. If you are a once or twice a year patron, dont be surprised to be trumped by a "regular" who dines weekly, so "pay" your dues. (not saying its right, but its how it is). Also, if you looking for $14.95 dinner entrees, try the Olive Garden. The quality of the food demands a premium, and if you go in on a Fri or a Sat you will see loads of satisfied customers who dont mind paying it. The "pack em in" table setting is a result of the places popularity and client demand and the noise level is just a product of everyone's enjoyment. Not a place for first date...great place to celebrate a divorce...

A DUMP WITH ATTITUDE. I would not recommend this disaster to my worst enemy. There is a really bad energy in this place. The attitude is like the staff is doing you a favor by being there. if you enjoy being abused then this is the place to be. The food is really lousy, the service is horrendous, the prices are obscene and unwarranted.

There is a really uncomfortable feeling in this place. It's loud, rude, extremely declasse and the food is horrendous. I would not recommend this one to my worst enemy.

The tables are on top of one another, the waitstaff is totally unknowledgeable and clueless. They rush you and give you lots of bad attitude which is not at all warranted .

Save your hard earned cash and go anywhere but "AREOS" Dont believe any positive reviews about this place. I would wonder who wrote them. and their authenticity.

Noisy But Delicious. Its a very popular restaurant in Bay Ridge. Thurs- Sun people are fighting to get into Areo. The food and the service is great. Make reservations ans be willing to wait at least 30 min but grab a martini at the bar its worth it!

very good dining experience. a group of us went to eat at Areo and it was a very positive experience. The service was excellent. The atmosphere as very inviting and relaxing. The food was delicious. I had gnocchi and the sauce was surprisingly good. My nephew had the lobster ravioli and that was also delicious. We were a table of ten people and everyone was very happy with their order. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Do you like being treated like garbage?. It's a given that the staff/management/owners treat you like garbage. Some of you actually like that, so I'll leave it alone. Onto the food. Linguine with crab sauce special, $25. Want to know what it was? A bowl, with linquine, red sauce (could have been from any jar at any store) and a smashed blue crab on top. Ever walk by a Chinese seafood store and see the bucket-o-crabs? Yeah, one of those. So, you can save yourself about $22 by going to a Chinese seafood store, buying 1 crab for $0.85, going home, boiling linguine, putting red sauce on it, boiling the $0.85 crab, smashing it, & throwing the smashed up boiled crab remains on the bowl of linguine & red sauce. Enjoy.
